Incredible she's still working and she's nearly 80[Sept 22nd 2023). She's now a careographer and she has worked with Sinatra and in Movies she's acted in some late 1960s. Plus she knew tragic Sharon Tate 1943-1969. Well done Toni xx

I was doing regional theater in the summer of 1983, and the director always played Toni Basil's album for us to do warm-up exercises and stretches to. I always looked forward to it---especially this song. It was so energizing! Although I never could figure out exactly what it's about. Is it juts about bad habits in general? Or a particular obsession?

Yes, a piece of art! ...subject matter, lyrics, music, videography, choreography; belongs on a wall in a museum, remastered with a nice large golden frame and surround sound playing over and over again. Thanks for posting, so nice to see it's still here to watch after enjoying for so many years---thanks again.

Four decades later and I still have a mad crush on her. She's still amazing to this day. This is actually a modified cover of Devo's Pity You. They had to change the song's name due to copyright issues. The Spudboys played on several tracks on this album and she was dating Devo bassist Gerry Casale at the time.
@ryanjones4150 Жыл бұрын
The name of a song doesn't affect any copyright or royalties, Mark Mothersbaugh is credited as the songwriter,he still gets paid just the same. She just changed the name of it.

Thank you for posting these Word Of Mouth videos, I've not seen them for many years. I remember seing the whole video in UK, on Channel 4, I think in 1982 and being bowled over by it. I rushed out to buy the album, which I still proudly own and listen to to this day. Toni was such a beautitiful and talented singer/dancer and still is at 78, she is the same age as my mum! I was (and still am) a big fan of Devo at the time I saw Toni's WOM video, little did I know at that time that Devo was heavily involved in this album, 3 of the songs were written by them and most of the band played on the album. It just gets better! Love Toni, long may she live!

Pretty Amazing ..I mean look at what is "churned" out now...this woman really is breathing walking talent. The choreography here is great..the mix of several styles, ..the costumes,..the voice..the song...all of it...I love this and also find it hard to get past "STREETBEAT" From the smothers Brothers show
