The most perfectly choreographed piece of art I've ever seen. Entranced at first viewing via BBC2 in 1981, and still have the LP.

Four decades later and I still have a mad crush on her. She's still amazing to this day. This is actually a modified cover of Devo's Pity You. They had to change the song's name due to copyright issues. The Spudboys played on several tracks on this album and she was dating Devo bassist Gerry Casale at the time.
@ryanjones4150 Жыл бұрын
The name of a song doesn't affect any copyright or royalties, Mark Mothersbaugh is credited as the songwriter,he still gets paid just the same. She just changed the name of it.

Yes, a piece of art! ...subject matter, lyrics, music, videography, choreography; belongs on a wall in a museum, remastered with a nice large golden frame and surround sound playing over and over again. Thanks for posting, so nice to see it's still here to watch after enjoying for so many years---thanks again.

Toni Basil was years ahead of her time . She could write great catchy pop songs , and her vids were original . I would say that she was the Lady Gaga of the 80's , but Toni did it first.......................and better

This was one of my all time favorite performances from Toni Basil, the mix of dance styles and the invention in costumes were a delight. It brings back the 80s for me watching this. The other song/dance I love is 'thief on the loose'. The one I least liked was the only hit for her 'Mickey'.

You can also see a video called "Robin and the 7 hoods ,Toni Basil, 1964 ..and yes that is her in it all those years ago.. movie with Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby she has choreographed so many people and concerts and movies. She even was in Easy Rider.. one of the chicks they picked up in New Orleans.

Thank you for posting these Word Of Mouth videos, I've not seen them for many years. I remember seing the whole video in UK, on Channel 4, I think in 1982 and being bowled over by it. I rushed out to buy the album, which I still proudly own and listen to to this day. Toni was such a beautitiful and talented singer/dancer and still is at 78, she is the same age as my mum! I was (and still am) a big fan of Devo at the time I saw Toni's WOM video, little did I know at that time that Devo was heavily involved in this album, 3 of the songs were written by them and most of the band played on the album. It just gets better! Love Toni, long may she live!

This was the bside for the single Time after Time in the UK and Australia and disappeared completely. Its unusual but a bit flat and needs the visuals to compliment it which is why it flopped. TB was never a critics favourite when it came to her music; a song as mythically perky as Mickey saw to that and made all the subsequent single releases drab by comparison
