Ive loved looking at all the old photos of Sheffield are you still doing them Ill dig out some photos. I remember standinhg on High St waiting for the 52 bus home from work and the lady that used to stand outside the crazy daisy selling the Sheffield star newspaper every few seconds shouting "Late Night Star" and now all the crap steel comes from China for your knives and forks

Amazing that some of the old buildings are still in situ after all this time and look the same, wonder how many ghosts walk amongst the Sheffield people today ???

Thank you for taking the time to post all these photos and videos. Love watching them. Do you have any photos of the workers at Jacobs on Abbeydale Rd, Davey Steel Works on Angel St, or the Blind School on Manchester road.

I'd completely forgotten about the big map with the lights on it. As a kid we would get off the 42 bus just up the road there and walk past it to catch the old 28 to Herdings to visit my aunt's most Saturdays. My mum telling me off for playing with the buttons, trying to light up as many as possible at the same time! A little further down just before you went into Pond Street bus station proper, was the round news agents shop with the chocolate vending machines on the wall. Also remember the big cafe on one of the platforms with big bench seats with tables you could sit about 10 people at lol!

Does anyone know what Sky Edge was ? I used to play on there in the 1950’s. I lived on Duke Street, but I had a friend who lived on Manor Lane & we would play up there in the school holidays. Was it a Bomb site or just left-over land from building works ?

Don’t the buildings look depressing though. All that smoke dirt. I remember the SMOGS of the 1950’s, walking to school with a scarf across your mouth so you didn’t breathe too much of it in……Happy days.☹️

I was born in Handsworth in 1949; we moved overseas in the 1960's but I remember so much of the 1950's when I used to catch the tram with my Grandma, and the old cream and blue Sheffield buses look familiar. I'm sending this to my brother. Thankyou for sharing.

Greart Victorian design cover. I hope it was pre AI, seriousliy - it would be interesting if AI could create such a knowing design, I really doubt it. Me --- born - Sheffield '55. Hastlor Rd South , just down from the Fish Pond Church, PS Anyone out there to remember Father Sutherlamd in the 60's. He came by our house on a Saturday night to watch the Avengers and have fish and chips from Metams. I thinink the chippy was there for decades.
