Don't remember the Womble Grotto at Atkinsons, but I do remember the old donkey ride there!

You’re not the only one Leon regarding the Womble Grotto.

Oh yes I used to drive down the Moor, you could park there too. It was a lovely city.

I recall buying my first suit at Hillsborough corner. There was a Montague Burtons there. It would have 1956.

it's almost impossible to feel total loathing for modern buildings, the craving for the past is so strong, i wonder if there is some 6th sense that can only really enjoy and appreciate 'beautiful but old buildings' , almost like they have to be old for me to like them, it's getting similar with cars as well now, or maybe true architecture has just been totally discarded and our subconcious knows it, either way, virtually every town and city has been absolutely trashed one way or another

@@justoldsheffieldphotos7868 i feel ya bro, in these times we have to have a sense of humour, the whole concept of 'regeneration' is probably one huge big fake sick joke, i had to laugh when they knocked down the 'new' firestation near charter square, seemed purpose built and the cement had 'barely dried'

Totley Tunnel !893 league of nations? Most would have been Irish, but the guy on the front left looks Italian and the guy on the 2nd from right of African decent. Before this date the Italians where building Alpine railway tunnels throughout central Europe.

Most navvies and railway workers were actually english. Its purely a myth (created by the irish) that the heavy lifting was done by irishmen. There were plenty of them, but by no means were they the majority.
