I mean considering the ai was literally only taught like 3 things and was told "go fight" its better than youd expect. You ever see an untrained nobody get in a street fight? They flail randomly, miss constantly, and fall over with their punch all the time. Its not far off.

What if you told them only to read the distance between limbs at less than a certain distance which was about the time needed to form a correct block

i'm curious whether or not putting an energy cost to benefit ratio on movement would help reduce some of the chaos and bring the movements more in line with what you might expect from humans. there's clearly a LOT of movements that don't really seem to have any benefit to the models, especially in terms of balance. reigning in some of that unnecessary movement might result in better results, since it encourages movements to have meaning, rather than keeping so much luck in the equation.
