Thanks for the great video!!! I love seeing every level of recovery context on here as well as the different techniques people use that i can learn from and apply myself!! I do however very highly recommend that you do a couple more steps to get a much bigger recovery of your gold etc. 1: make sure to crush everything down to pass through a fine sieve , even finer is good too, allowing the legs to separate from the bonding wires. If the material doesn’t want to crush, incinerate them again until the material does crush, leaving only the legs behind. Save those for a larger batch to process one day. Of course it’s still a good idea to use a magnet to separate anything that did pass the sieve to make it easier when doing your preferred gravity separation method. 2: you HAVE to make sure to add detergent to your water when rinsing the IC chips. I guarantee you are loosing bonding wires due to them not breaking the surface tension. Glad you’re keeping the rinsed off materials at least, but you can get away with tossing it once you know you e broke tension, and to be safe, use a bucket or tall beaker to rinse the majority of the carbon off before switching to panning (or better yet a mini sluice!)

I suppose it could, but I’ve be a little concerned with the boards though. I don’t know how it would react with different kinds of solder. Also with the price. It takes a large quantity of citric acid to put small amounts of base metals in solution. Then you’ve be left with a lot of toxic waste to get rid of. Here where I live citric acid isn’t cheap 😬 I tried once to desolve a gold filled wrist watch in citric acid. It took A LOT of acid. But it worked just fine. I guess more experiments are needed. 😊

Hello @NineTwoFive how are you doing? Went through this process as suggested by you. I had a couple of questions looking at it: 1, What was your ratio of HCL(ML) to AP(ML). Does the ratio have any correlation with the amount of material being used here? Or does the material just need an HCL dip height and the rest can then be taken care of by the AP? 2, I liked your DIY on using the funnel to enforce the AP drop by drop into the solution. How long did it take to completely stop reacting with the material and why was the solution entirely covered? Like I don't see any room for fume evaporation, or was it not needed at all? 3, You have used the HCL and Bleach(Chlorine) in your other video, is the same applicable here as well? Or will it take longer than this? Awaiting your reply. Many Thanks.
@johannesthe5th154
@johannesthe5th154 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Jibran 👋 1. For example in this video, I had 33 grams of material that I needed to go in solution. That doesn’t require much acid. So I just make sure that everything is covered. Generally I want to use as little acid as possible. That will save other chemicals in the future and creates less waste The HCL/peroxide ratio makes sense when you start adding the peroxide. Too much peroxide too fast, makes the acid boil over. So you want to find that sweet spot when the solution starts to have a “rolling boil” 2. If you use the “cotton in funnel” method and it drips too fast. Just jam some more cotton in there. And vice versa. When there is too less peroxide in the acid or it stopped reacting, it’s very noticeable. It won’t be boiling as much. Generally if there is no peroxide drip, it will almost stop reacting right away. 3. It’s the same with Chlorine as explained above, but I’m never gonna work with bleach/Chlorine again. Chlorine gas just to risky for the health. Peroxide is much less poisonous Hope it helps 😊
@Jibrannajam92
@Jibrannajam92 2 жыл бұрын
@@johannesthe5th154 Thanks for your prompt response, I understood your answer for the first one. Spot on! However, for the second part, how are we to know that the HCL AP solution has completely dissolved the gold material if the reaction goes on until AP is added and stops when we pour no more? Lets suppose I incinerate 1 kg of IC chips and wash away all the ashes. Now I'm left with solid residue. I pour HCL to cover it all and start adding peroxide. How will I know till which point it has completely dissolved all the useful material and until when do I have to stop? Also would it need any heat or no? Will this process even work on dissolving the IC residue material properly? Thirdly, yes I do understand the risk of using chlorine gas and I even DIY'd a bleach but due to a lack of knowledge, I only thought it best to replace nitric. However, everyday's a learning process and I hope to thrive through the likes of knowledge sharing generous people like yourself. Of course, it Helps :)

@@Jibrannajam92 ah 😊.. well. It’s a matter of testing the solution with Stannous chloride. I wouldn’t add peroxide to the acid until all undesirable basemetal has been removed from the sludge. Heat and HCL will remove everything except the precious metals. You know the solution is free from base metals when it turns mostly colourless Adding heat and peroxide will desolve everything faster. But you would have to filter the material and add fresh acid/peroxide in between testing. Even small quantities of gold will give you a positive stannous test. Don’t know if this makes sense 😅
@Jibrannajam92
@Jibrannajam92 2 жыл бұрын
@@johannesthe5th154 you mean i may have to go through multiple HCL washes before adding any peroxide correct? This could take up a lot of acid hence pushing up my costs of refining. I guess I'd rather just clean the sludge off any material using a sluice box or panning then move on to further refining as you habe done here. On another note, stannous may indicate a positive even if there is a little amount of gold in the solution. It does not help us indicate whether all of the gold has been dissolved. Anyhow, ill give it a try then lets see where it goes from here. P.S. can the solution have the available metals such as silver and copper to be precipitated later?

Hi, your process is quite neat. And the result is on point for average quality ICs. However can we use Ram chips for the same? Whether DDR or DDR 2,3? As they all got gold wires within them. Since the vid wasnt complete, please clear this out. All that golden on your pan is gold? Or only the section where much of the finer particles were pushed to a corner is useful. Please share knowledge. Thanks. God bless!
@johannesthe5th154
@johannesthe5th154 2 жыл бұрын
Hello jubran 👋 You’re right. I didn’t show the whole process. To get the chips crushed up properly, I use a larger cast iron mortar to grind it up to release the fine wire from the plastic. All golden stuff in the pan IS gold, but it looks like there is more than there actually is. After refining and melt. That is where you see the actual result. Almost All RAM chips has gold bond wire inside. And yes. It’s the same process. Although I don’t mis BGA chips with the side legged RAM. BGA has almost no base metals inside. So they are very easy to crush and separate the gold from the silicon glas and plastic. I usually get 1,1 gram of gold pr 1kg of mixed side legged RAM chips Around 2,3 gram of gold pr. Kg of BGA ram Chips Around 10 gram of gold pr. Kg of Goldcornered BGA chips. Also I soak everything in HCL for months to remove most Tin and other undesirablemetals. This step is not a must, but it makes everything so much easier

@@johannesthe5th154 thanks for your reply. Very well, but it does look like one heck of a job getting all the very fine and light materials to churn out from this alone and you had a lot more to go on after that.
