Excellent vidéo! Awsome video and views! I showed this clip to my wife and she was convinced to go there on our trip to Scotland next fall, September 22. We aiming the afternoon 13:30 train (second train from Fort Williams). Was told I need to park at least 12:00. Right? Merci beaucoup from Montréal!!
@ColinM_YouTube17 күн бұрын
I’m not sure of the timetable of the train but you can check that on west coast railways website. Best advice I can give is be there extra early to secure your spot at the viewpoint & be prepared for midges!. Also don’t bother with the viewpoint by the visitor centre, it’s too far away. One thing I would say is the afternoon train will sometimes run backwards, so to guarantee the train running forwards, go for the morning train. Thanks for the kind words & enjoy your trip!. Have you seen my Jacobite steam train video?. You can see what it’s like to ride the steam train. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3i5f2B8aptpbsksi=A5u6n_l-OE8r9YxL

@ColinM_YouTube4 ай бұрын
Correct!. But I don’t think you can get to runkerry head from the beach anymore, as the council took the bridge away that crossed the small stream. I haven’t seen this for myself, but this is what I’ve heard.

Very sad to see once teeming Shipyard now abandoned
@ColinM_YouTube4 ай бұрын
As far as I know, the shipyard is not abandoned. I think they work on oil rigs now, and other areas of the old shipyard are in use for other purposes these days. The pump house in this video now also houses a whiskey distillery for example. Although it’s not teeming with dockers these days, it’s more filled with tourists and used for recreational purposes.

As a local I’d say where you parked is probably not the best spot as it blocks a gate that could get used by farmers and emergency vehicles. If you went up the hill a bit on the road you’d see a lay-by people park in. Binevenagh is beautiful though. Went hiking there earlier for the first time in awhile and I have to say the way I went was less travelled and my way back down was a gamble full of loose terrain and close calls. Very tedious but loved every minute of it! Definitely worth a visit form anyone whether you are a local or a tourist.
@ColinM_YouTube7 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I didn’t park at the gate I parked at the lay by, you can see that at the beginning of the video as I pass the wall where the river is on the bend. I don’t know who it was who parked at the gate at the end of the video but as you say, it is a bit irresponsible as emergency services may need access.
@resolve_media217 ай бұрын
@@ColinM_KZbin oh sorry, smart thinking. It is irresponsible but that is people for you. Hope you enjoyed your hike, it’s always a great day out! I was there for 6 hours hiking, doing photography and admiring the view with a friend. All I’d say for anyone planning on going is to wear appropriate footwear and bring clothing for cold and wet just incase as well as the necessities of water and snacks possibly even a picnic!

Thanks for the video, I visited U434 today - be great if we could have more detail of it’s history- the missions it undertook, accounts from sailors- but obviously that cannot be revealed. I was expecting a WW2 German U boat rather than a 70’s Russian submarine.
@ColinM_YouTube9 ай бұрын
I think most people would come to that conclusion for a U-boat. It’s still cool to see a Russian boat from the Cold War era!.
@obsidianjane44135 ай бұрын
Most of it has been declassified and books have been written. But most of them are in Russian. Not much of a problem with auto translate, but getting them, especially these days is inconvienent.

This video to my mind, is just so trimendous, l have been on that a few times, but had to cut off at a certain point in the road to get to Loch Awe , there used to be a steam boat up there & l always liked to go for a sail on it, & years ago they brought up a railway carriage and made it into a railway cafe which was very good & you could have something to eat before you went for a sail on the steam boat, but that was long years ago, but a long time after that they brought the steam boat down to Loch Katrine, but apart from all that I always enjoyed driving along the A82, so thanks for posting this great video that I have thurly enjoyed.

My favourite drive in all of Scotland. Brings back a lot of happy memories from childhood,driving up from Fife with my Mum and Step-Dad to their caravan at Kinlochleven,with my aunt and uncle with the caravan next to us.Did that 3 or 4 times a year from the age of 11 until about 15.Good times.The melancholy music adds to the sentimentality of it for me.Although i remember my Mum breaking down crying the week my gran died, listening to 'The old ragged cross' on tha cassette player coming through Rannoch moor into Glencoe.
