i made an old man in a trench coat with no pants today and named him mister willie... it took 5 minutes and thats all that sketch will be. theres beauty in that, but yeah. its a shallow gag. striving for higher ideals is definitely the sauce.

Ser Craig and Maciej will do just fine and continuously thrive, can't say that for the rest bunch, if your thing has no unique vision nor have that belief you may one day outgrow your old self , then stay clear from all these thing as earlier as possible before you got obliterated by AI. this is conclusion and comment came from combination of truth and some deeply haboured resentment.

50:51 Can anyone please explain what does he mean by "The spicy mustard problem"? It's the second time Craig refers to this term in this video and googling didn't help.

Pretty sure he just means obvious generic cookie cutter creativity. You have mustard - let’s make it spicy. Let’s make it sweet. It’s just combining two obvious things

Way back, Mullins had an amazing website. It was large scans of all of his work. Some garbage human hacked it and ruined it. Sadly we never got that kind of site back. Same happened with Jeff Jones, too.

4:37 “to use a tool to do work that you probably should be doing is damaging in the long run even if it’s immensely helpful in the short run”… both a good reflection on AI but also our entire western civilization…

Lolz, just own it. Photobashers got ahead of ByHanders, the tools gave that cutting edge. Now the AI-ers will get ahead of Photobashers and replace them. It's all about money, and time is money. Just face it, the tools now render your skill irrelevant! I am more interested in seeing what AI tool will generate than what individual "artist" can come up with. The only purpose for a classically trained artist who has skill through experience is to create directed content, but even then won't be able to compete because of the time and the cost. Lolz, In the future where robots were supposed to free humanity from manual labor to pursue arts, instead replaced humanity in the arts and left them to the manual labor😂

you are switching the art too quickly.. It's so bad that short attention span now is also reaching art contemplation and youtubers has to switch images frequently to keep viewers attention

Years and years ago Mullins work made me wish I had taken a career in concept art, but there were no courses for that and I didn’t even know about it! Ended up becoming a graphic designer but wish I had explored it!

The 3 last minutes are gold ! I think there is so much more to talk about social media presence, inspiration and the amount of information we're absorbing. Same about the fact that a lot of art in the industry is getting alike ! Awesome discussion, i'm eager to hear more from him

The greater theme is about protecting empathy in the creative industries. Do we want empathetic design - or do we want pornographically hyper specific targeted creativity for every possible demographic. Obviously we want the former but industry will drive us towards the latter. I think “organic”’art will be a thing. Just like there are dumb pop music and really soulful Indy music.

You can buy top of the line sports equipment but can you play sports on a professional level? The same applies to AI. Artist will forever remain on top. By artist I mean people who work hard and are passionate about the craft. Your years of experience will not go down the drain because of AI. I believe AI will come to a middle ground eventually, It's inevitable. When that time arrive artist will eventually incorporate AI tools into their process. It's just that things will get really bad before it gets better. Grifter companies with deep pocket. Corrupt Politicians taking bribes. The world is a mess right now. I just hope I can hold on long enough to see the change.

It's also worth considering the prospect that AI is an attack on the Human Creativity by the industrial complex. And the AI news is not the only thing going on, here in the UK, the Government has cut down drastically on funding for creative courses at Universities. So this will affect what courses are viable and available for students wanting to go into a creative profession.

I really loved this part about keeping your own and very personal artistic approach alive and just being yourslef: ✍"if you don't have to have social media don't. if you don't have to go to Artstation then don't because it will increase the incest in the industry, because you'll see powerful work done by powerful tools with powerful individuals of the top and it'll run right over the top of whatever delicate Little Flower is trying to emerge from your soul and that is the worst thing that can happen you know, the influence is much too powerful"

Also the phrase "if everyone is an artist then no one is" isn't doing ANYTHING to prove its point. It's like saying "if everybody is human then no one is": which is nonsense. The idea is that even if everything is art, that is not necessarily saying everything is great art, or evokes the same intensity of emotions. A tiny grain of sand from my backyard is beautiful under a microscope, but doesn't fascinate me me as much as looking at a Lady of Shalott by Waterhouse. Everything might be art but that doesn't mean everything feels the same
