You've connected the new distributor positive terminal (red) to the positive terminal on the ignition coil, correct? And the negative terminal, to what have you connected it to? Negative terminal on the ignition coil? Thanks.

Did it work? We had a gorgeous silver X19 with leather seats and it continually overheated.

I also had an X1/9 for years. A fantastic car. Lovely with an open roof. Too bad I no longer have a car because of my age, 87. Greetings from Holland.

Hi. Are you still building this car? How about the X1/9 project? Great videos and a really, really good channel but nothing new for so long. Hoping everything’s ok.

Hallo, I have an important question, is it possible to exchange a transmission from another car (fiat, alfa romeo, etc.)? or is it the only one for this fiat? Thank you for answer.

Clever design. I wonder if a central locking solenoid would have the power to operate the slider ? Potentially controlled by the fan thermostat with an override and delay for when parking for let the hot air escape.

Just finished watching this latest video of your progress and have been fascinated by your depth of knowledge about the car, the downer car, and the process of building it to competition specifications. Great to see the people in NZ who build these cars also and that they have many of the parts for new builds there made in house. Congratulations so far on your successes and breathing life into a legend. Excited to see the next episode.

All you need now is to color match them. SEM makes some great vinyl spray paint. Just did this on my 911, using Scat seats. Paint holds up well.

Hmm. Now you need to motorise the vent mechanism in the lid. How hard could that be? Is that a 1300 with a 1500 lid btw? Kinda works.

Dear sir I really understand your experience as a young man. I was introduced to Fiat as a young bloke through my best friend who's dad was in the N.S.W. Fiat club. I bought his old 131 which was a gem and out was glorious. Going up a hill revving 2750rpm was like hearing an orchestra. I used to drive with my head out to of the window. I am very happy to see the results of your passion for these Italian masterpieces. Good luck with your further endeavours.

The thermostatic switches fail more on 124s and other fiats due to the absence of a relay to handle the current of the fan...im glad yours had a relay. Also the same goes for the headlights no sure on the x but many fiats the lights current passes thru the switch gear and even the ignition switch ...installing relays so the switches an the ignistion switch is turning on relays will make her much more reliable...the ignition switches burned out alot especially with higer output bulbs . Plus the lights will burn brighter with a properly installed fused relay circuit. They even sell high amp relays 100 200 amp capacity that you can have the complete output of the igniton switch solely controling the relay. If you open the ignition switch you will see the contacts are very small in comparison to the liad it carries causing high resistance. As always use fuses proper gague wire neatness and always gromets when passing wires through bulk heads and fire walls ...most fires are not started by gas its the electrical system 95 percent of the time

Are you not cooling the intake at all? I believe the X1/9 won't thank you for that -- it gets very hot under there, due to the cramped space, and the heat causes all sorts of fuelling issues if you don't cool the intake and the carburettor (later models had an air cooling fan for the carb). My X1/9 had no end of issues because the coolant passageways to the intake were blocked by a careless previous owner trying to fix a leak with RadWeld. Still, the video is from 2016, so either there were no problems or you already discovered and fixed them!

You know what you could be onto something there... I've been having some random driveability issues where the car will start spluttering. Diagnosed to fueling issues so replaced the mechanical pump with an electronic unit, swapped out the carb, cleaned out the tank, problem persists! Letting the car sit for a few minutes allowed it to be driveable for a while longer. Hasn't happened recently (likely due to cooler ambient temps and engine bay cooking modifications) but I may have to add the carb cooling fan back in. Thanks for the insight!
