Upgrading points ignition in an older car to Electronic Ignition is a must do!

I did add an electric fuel pump (Pierburg) You can put it in line with the original fuel pump, but you can ommit it as well. I did put them in line so if the Pierburg stops for whatever reason, I stil got backup. You 're doing a very fine job !!

@@RevTek The distributor cap of a fiat uno turbo is a 90° angled one that fits better in the compartment and goes straight on your new electronic distibutor. (got the same as yours) greetings !

Good work mate. Great videos and a good result. I've had 3 X1-9s and just bought a forth. You videos are both inspiring and a warning to me. I had forgotten the old fashioned tech that goes with the original cars as my current X has a 180hp+ turbo Toyota motor, 5 speed box, Microtech 8 ECU, 2.5" exhaust, fuel injection and of course electronic ignition. Before you get excited be warned, don't think for one tiny moment that doing an engine + gearbox conversion is ever going to easy or cheap. It aint. It would be cheaper and easier to go out and get a late model high powered sports car. The 'new' car will be like going back in time.

I agree... the electrics in this car have been a nightmare to deal with, especially with dodgy repairs and 'upgrades' from previous owners!

Hop up tip. shorten throttle rod just a bit, it will give you a "full time" 2 bbl carb as opposed to a primary/secondary set up. Did that with my 850 sport spyder.... WOW

Great video mate, only one small point of note you may or may not want to take onboard, you’re way to happy using a steel hammer to resolve issues. If you’re going to hit things like carbs etc get a nylon hammer. But nice job on the restoration.

You've connected the new distributor positive terminal (red) to the positive terminal on the ignition coil, correct? And the negative terminal, to what have you connected it to? Negative terminal on the ignition coil? Thanks.

The two I had in the 80’s would cut off at random times often on interstate which could occasionally be alarming- I would have to pull the carb jets out at blow on the ends to get all the junk out and would immediate run great again..just will bad taste lingering- I have wanted another one my whole life- although they are terrible in so many way- they are still awesome- I just recall not easiest to work on but dad was doing most of the work- I had girls on the brain and wish I had paid more attention to all his knowledge- would have served me better today (far better than that girl!)
