Hmmmm… never seen where a Yamaha YXZ caught on fire. Wonder if it has anything to do with the manual transmission/clutch? No belt to overheat. Yamaha owner here.

What caused that Polaris to burn? Is that common? Thanks for another great video casey. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
@CaseysOffRoadRecovery7 күн бұрын
They have issues. Some of them are caused by auxiliary gas cans.
@gungadingo6 күн бұрын
Polaris, CanAm, Arctic Cat all are plagued with fires. Some are spare gas can failures like Casey pointed out and some are electrical failures. Some are overheating issues with slipping drive belts. Just get a Yamaha YXZ with a manual transmission and clutch. I’ve never seen where one has caught on fire.

A minor quibble from me: 3:00 I'd suggest not letting plastics and oil "burn off" … that's a lot of avoidable pollution … with available sand, have a shovel and bury the fire so it's extinguished and safely cooling immediately. Thanks for the channel - good entertainment!
@flight2k57 күн бұрын
Yea man made global warming is not real
@gungadingo6 күн бұрын
Or carry a decent fire extinguisher, just saying.
@brightymcbrightface6 күн бұрын
@@gungadingo I assume the fire got away from them (presumably fuel or oil burning in the engine compartment took hold before they realized.) Everyone driving on sand - especially in the dunes - should carry a trenching shovel and preferably a long handled shovel (for digging out when high centered.) Sand will put out a fuel or oil fire and save the engine (and the whole vehicle.)
@CaseysOffRoadRecovery6 күн бұрын
I have never seen a fire that started on an ATV put out with a fire extinguisher. If ya don't roll them up to continue to burn out it will smolder and burn for days. Even 24 hrs later this mass of steel rubber and fiberglass was hot to the touch and had hot smoldering embers.

He rolled his sxs onto his externally mounted gas can, which leaked onto the exhaust. This is a stupid driver problem, not a polaris problem.

In Michigan I was told the towed vehicle has to be facing forward for weight distribution on the flatbeds. You don't have that restriction?
@CaseysOffRoadRecovery10 күн бұрын
Not that I know of. This truck handled the weight fine.
@flyingmonkeydeathsquadronc9686 сағат бұрын
It's more important on smaller rollback trucks (smaller than Casey's) and its generally good practice to have the engine forward. Theoretically if you put a vehicle with a heavy enough engine overhanging the rear axle of the rollback it could start to lift the front end and increase the likelihood of loss of control especially in inclement weather. Michigan might have restrictions on it due to earlier small rollbacks having accidents due to improper load management and never changing regs to adapt to the modern environment.
