The one thing that changed my game recently was indeed swinging much smoother. Feeling like my full swing was 80 (both in power but also turning less which gave more stability)

From what you've shown you're better than 13 handicap.

I love the relaxed feel of this video and that you're a real amateur. I'm taking golf seriously for the first time in my life and this is exactly what I need to see. By the way, your swing looks great for only a year in!

Great tip on not focusing on power. I see a lot of new golfers trying to absolutely smash the ball as hard as possible when actually a nice easy swing is best until you feel confident applying the power. Accuracy is key!

For me it's the putting. I've improved my short game dramatically, but when I get to the green, I often 3 putt. My last round, I could have taken about 18 strokes off if I could have 1 putted easier ones.

Your score on this round is similar to what happens to myself. Excepting for the 2 bad holes, it was a very good round.

May be the putting out the rough which is where you could play the bump and run Luke. Also you should have a match with Wayne Dewey at Real Golf. Kind regards Lee

Yet you barely have any rough over there. You rough is like our fairway plus your courses are pretty much ideal weather conditions whereas 75% of golf in the UK is played in the rain.

I played my 1st ever round of golf start of June and hut 102 on par 70 with in my first 1 month I hit a 97 then I got a hand injury torn ligaments that the doctor said would keep me from playing 4 to 6 weeks, I stopped playing for almost 4 weeks, now it's been almost 4 months since I started but with 1 month out the game and my handicap is +22 and my lowest score is 86 which I've now scored 3 times

10:40 forget GIR, play nett GIR. Ie par 4 PP is 5 so on for 3. Par 3 on for 2. Par is Professional Anticipated Result. For handicap make own expected score on hole. If play by yourself with no competition cards how will your GHIN come down for year.

Your strategy is for players breaking 90. Your strategy for playing hardest hole on course was correct for a how to break 80 video. Would like you yo have shown a bogey or db for that hole so high handicappers can relate to it.

The irony of golf, is, when you try to close the face down like you are, you are actually coming over the top, and so you will keep on hitting the cut. If that's your thing and it work, great, but just to illustrate how this is impacting your shape, looking at the last hole that you played, you are set op for the draw and still you had the ball cutting. Its severe over the top swing path that does that. squaring the face has nothing to do with swing path, its a wrist function. Most armatures start golf by cutting, and to fix that they aim left causing the over the top swing path making it worse. Going against intuition and swinging to the right will actually promote a draw and even if you struggle to square up the face and leave it open , you will hit it a bit straighter.

Hi mate, just found your channel. I've been playing a similar amount of time to you and trying to reduce my handicap (currently 17.4). This is great advice, I'm working on my swing path at the moment and this video is great tips for anyone to work on. I've been lucky enough to have a few Trackman sessions so if anyone watching this gets a chance I highly recommend it to get some data for swing path and club face. Keep up the good work! (I've played Rushmore a few times it's a great course).

That is actually the greatest tip think 80% I am a 30+ handicap golfer a true double bogey master. I played with my uncle a round on a private course and said I’m just going to slow my swing down & trust in the club doing the work. I shot an 89. The following months later found myself trying to crush every shot and was shooting 104&110? It’s ridiculous that I couldn’t remind myself to just slow the swing down and trust that the club will do the majority of the work. And worse case not as much distance but will likely be more in play. But even as you said the majority of the time you’ll actually strike it better and farther cause your contacting the ball better. Awesome to hear this again. Off to the range 👍🏼

Started golfing 11 months ago. Became absolutely obsessed with it right after I reluctantly played my first round. Progressed fairly quickly the first couple months, went on a trip for two weeks without playing golf, and came back to being able to do nothing but hit a shank. Even when I can hit something other than a shank, it’s a weak, unsatisfying and heely strikes that fade. You seem to be about the same age, body type, and athleticism as myself. I honestly have never been so frustrated in my life. I’ve bought every training aid known to mankind, watched every KZbin video, still can’t solve them. I couldn’t even play a round of golf even if I wanted to, because I’d just shank the ball everywhere. So yeah, I don’t know what I’m going to do. I love golf more than any other sport or hobby, but going from feeling the satisfaction of compressing an iron and taking a nice divot to totally losing any sense of normalcy in golf is just defeating. Edit: It’s been about 4 months of shanks for me.
