If your watch can be copied by the Chinese, maybe you need to change your watch? I'd love to see the Chinese reverse engineering a Sinn UX S, for example. Not going to happen anytime soon.

The San Martin is nearly as good, amazing value for money. I’d say my Steeldive Submariner is like 65% of a Rolex Submainer, and that’s amazing value for $100. Eventually I’ll get a Steinhart and call it good. I wanted a Rolex Air King, so I got a Pagani Design version of it and I’ll wear it until I can afford the real deal. 🇩🇪👌🏼 To be honest I’ll always be alright wearing a $100-$300 watch, that’s the sweet spot for a good, well made, quality watch without the hype, brand recognition, snobbery. I’m a quartz fan, and Citizen Eco-Drive’s and Casio’s are Godtier.

Really not a fan of this, I really regret buying it. I got the leather strap and it has a metal clasp that sits awkwardly under your wrist and makes the watch pop up. Also the chronograph movement feels super cheap, when you reset the time it just instantly snaps back to 12 rather than a beautiful sweep, it makes the watch feel super tacky and cheap. I've had cheaper watches in the past (timex expedition chrono) that had the beautiful sweeping movement. It's also very "Blingy" which to me is very tacky, and I didn't realize in photos, you can only tell in person. It cost me $250 AUD delivered which is super expensive for what it is, wish I didn't buy it. The only saving grace is my wife likes it, so it will be for dinners etc. But honestly I dislike it so much that I don't even know if I want to wear it out for dinner etc! I wish I got the SBTQ041 instead!

Where I live, there are Chinese auto brands popping up all over, many of the models are made to look exactly like Porsche or Mercedes, and at first glance you might think they are, but when you look closer, you can absolutely see that they are cheap Chinese knock offs, trying to copy something that took years of design and engineering to create and that has proven to be successful. I have no love for that business model in cars, or in watches. That, to me, is exactly what these watches are.

SAN Martin looks good in comparison to a Rolex.

I’ve had the chance to own the San Martin, Sugess, and Cronos, and after spending some time with them, here’s how they stack up as homages to the original: 1. Sugess takes the crown as the best homage overall. Its bezel action is the closest to the actual Rolex, giving it a premium feel. The clasp is also a standout-it feels refined, high-quality, and is easier to close compared to the others. The rehaut design adds to the overall look, making it the most accurate and polished homage in my opinion. 2. San Martin comes in a solid second. While its bezel action feels great, it’s noticeably different from the original. That said, it’s still a fantastic homage with excellent build quality. 3. Cronos is in third place for me. Its bezel action is a bit too soft and lacks the premium feel of the Sugess or San Martin. However, it’s still a good watch overall-just not quite on the same level. That said, the Cronos GMT is in a league of its own-it’s amazing and truly stands out.

Not a surprise the outcomes, but San Martins aren't cheap, and they still can't get any of mine to run inside 10 secs a day, or even fast vs slow. All 4 of mine suck time wise, but my 2 WatchDives at least gain time. My Omegas, Tudor and Sub are all 1 sec. That's where the money goes.

I don’t think these Chinese brands polish the parts like the knurling of screws, crown, etc. It is how Chinese people distinguish fake and genuine Rolex.

VERY interesting! Thought there may be some obvious 'gaps' between these watches, for me, the biggest gap is the price, of course! I've owned a Rolex since 1994, and it has been a dependable, bulletproof watch. But I would never buy another one with alternatives like these. If you’re really brutally honest the Rolex is a two grand watch. The name hypes it up but realistically that’s all it is. The likes of San Martin are showing them up with similar quality for a twentieth of the price.

Fake rolex

One of the many giveaways that this is a fake Rolex is the 12:00 marker and the engraved crown on the inside of the dial wall is comically misaligned. Sorry I own real Rolex and I have many friends that own real Rolex and real Rolex don't misalign interior Engravings like that in fact the reason they do that is to detract the ability of fakes. Hands and idices on the Rolex are made of white gold and side by side, but only then, you can see the difference in color. There's a certain warmth in white gold.

I own a Rolex Gary, and the finishing on the San Martin is as good, in fact it's better than my Tudor. It's the movement that really separates them, but needless to say that doesn't make the Rolex worth the money. At the end of the day it's about supply and demand, not to mention status and perception

Given the Rolex is many times the price of the other 2 it is not many times higher in quality when it comes to the case its finishing.

As with almost all luxury items you are simply paying a huge premium tax for the brand - yes the Rolex is better than the San Martin. But I am certain San Martin could surpass or match the Rolex in EVERY aspect if they wanted, and that watch would likely still cost under $1k. No one would buy it though as again spending that kinda cash means brand is king. Rolex could sell a sub for $800 and make more profit than SM do now. But then they’d not be able to spend millions on sponsorships to build brand equity. If ppl want to kid themselves that the above is false and the Rolex is a genuinely $10k watch on quality and it’s not about brand then those ppl are beyond helping.

Regardless of the finishing and build quality, they all share a hideously ugly design.

I own both a Rolex Starbucks and a San Martin GMT, you are only kidding yourself if you think the San Martin is as good. Don’t get me wrong the San Martin is very very good for the price but it’s no match for the Rolex.

Hey, I noticed you're using the defaut 52 deg lift angle on the timegrapher, when the 4R36 movement actually has 53 deg lift angle. Doesn't that affect the measurement? Shouldn't you set the timegrapher to match the 53 deg lift angle of the movement? How much error do you see in the measurement because the timegrapher was not setup correctly?

I thought people said that the difference between the 4r35 that Seiko has and the NH35 everyone else gets is the accuracy. So thats not true, is it?

I try to get them about 5 sec/day fast. I have a samurai that needs regulation badly, about 30 sec/day slow.
