Yo Calvin so I know this video is super old but I have been working on a project FZ6 for a few weeks now and I'm just trying to confirm the ignition coil are setup properly... I know that my leads are connected to the right plugs but I'm not sure if the red wire, the orange wire, the grey/black wire and the second red wires that connect to the tabs from the side are in the right order. Can you please confirm (in detail) the placement of these wires as they are to connected to the ignition coils? 🙏 🙏 🙏

Subscribed, why ?, you put the effort in, I am in England and have a 14 year old son who always needs cash= clean the headers, so he will earn around £30 ( $37 US).

You definitely do NOT need the special tool OR to remove the radiator to do this. 5/8th/16mm thin wall UJ socket with a short extension. That's all. I have a Snap On one that while was costly - it has saved me a fortune in time and been able go do all of the awkward bikes such as the ZX12R

Calvin, you're my hero.. fr I chose fz6 bc of this video. Bought 06 fz6, which has seen better days. I have been restoring and had conversion to Fz6N. every time I face problems w restoring, you already have the answers. Huge thanks to you.

I go with about 28mm chain slack and its fine under heavy load with passenger leaving around 8mm ish slack , I would drop the rear axle nut tourqe to 120nm as 150nm will crush the axle block on opposite side to the nut , if you look closely at yours you will see it's deforming due to tourqe being to high , I've got the same thing so I've dropped it to save it from shearing off 80-85 ft lbs is plenty on it 👍🏼👌🏼

Anyone know if it's possible to swap them with just having to remove the side fairing and not the radiator. Aware would be tighter but could it be done?
@Calvinm14 күн бұрын
In the video linked below, I replaced the spark plugs without removing the radiator. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4XEioaPbJtpias
@BLG8017 күн бұрын
It' usually always the high voltage cable to spark plug cap where the problem is with connection, especially the screw in type connection, they can get a bad connection over time with vibration and of course people pulling the spark plug cap off by tugging the high voltage coil to cap cable.

I want an r6 but the passenger situation is terrible and this bike has a better seating arangement. Wish there was an fz6 but with r6 suspension and motor
@Calvinm20 күн бұрын
People have fitted r6 front suspension brakes and wheel to the FZ6 which is a big upgrade. And you can get an ohlins rear shock for the FZ6 which adds more adjustability I believe.

I have the same oil cooler, currently going to try to remove the 2 AN ends where they go into my thermostat. I have some 45 degree replacement fittings that I will try and push into the hose to hopefully have the 45‘s sitting flush. I recommend you try the same.
@Calvinm20 күн бұрын
Let me know how that works out. Currently my set up with the two 90’s coming out of the thermostat housing is not idea. The one closest to the rad fan rubs on the plastic fan cover. Had to make a little bracket to stop the rubbing. I was also thinking of getting a -10 extension for the driver side hose to put the 90 before the passenger side hose.
@2stocke9x20 күн бұрын
@ That worked out perfect. The 2 45’s in place of the 2 90’s are perfectly flush with no extensions or adapters. Spent all of 13$ on those 2 single 45’s.

hello calvin My bike is Yamaha FZ6 fazer 2006. My question to you is, in 2nd gear, at high speeds, my motorcycle shakes and suddenly loses power and the power comes back. Do you know why I am having this problem? I would be very happy if you help

@gardengenie630026 күн бұрын
Hi Cal, thank you for all these vids about the fz6.. I realize this is an old video, but I hope you see it and can aswer a question. With the way the bike's suspension is set up stock, would it be better for a lighter rider (109lb) than for yourself? (or worse?) because obviously you are far more muscled than I am. I just purchased a used one, it's been lowered and I have long legs so I feel its a good seating position for me, I can flat foot it. I'm not a new rider, but have been off the bike for 11 years. (my previous ride was an 02 FZ1, I put over 100K on it, and that wasn't my first bike...) Now the fire is back and I'm gonna ride again. I blame my daughter who moved back from out of state with a damn gsxr750....🤣🤣🤣 let the good times roll!

How is the wind protection on the fj09 compared to your fz6? I had an 03 fz1 for 17 years.i loved it and miss it. I changed to a super tenere, and i can't believe how .much comfier it is on trips. But its missing the fun factor. Im looking at getting a smaller cheaper second bike. Im leaning to a fz6 s2 but they're hard to test ride. I think the riding position on the fj is better, the motor might be more fun but is it worth double THE FZ6? $3500 VS $ 7G
@CalvinmАй бұрын
The wind protection with the stock windshield in the FJ09 isn’t great. You’re more upright than on the FJ09 so your shoulders catch more air but the deflectors in front of the hands are nice and effective. Both bike benefit greatly from a taller aftermarket windshield. The FZ6 feels notably smaller than the FJ. The FJ had wider handle bars and a more open riding position than the FZ6

Tip for draining your coolant, there's a plug on the water pump cover. makes it a lot less messy than just pulling a hose off

It’s cutting out randomly. Choppy like it’s running out of fuel. Replaced spark plugs and air filter no change. Got it used from a dealer wonder if maybe bad fuel got to it? But I put couple thousand miles on it before issue popped up. Might clean or replace fuel injectors, and check throttle sensor? Does that sound right?
@PaddyBoyBKLYNАй бұрын
Calvin i have an issue that i cant narrow down, maybe youll have some insight. My bike sat for a year after i lowsided it at a very low speed, but now its starting to act up only when its cold outside. During warm weather my 2004 Fz6 idles normally, But as the fall rolls in, and the ambient temps drop below 55°F it idles around 3000 RPM, but only after it warms up. I checked the air temp sensor and TPS, both are in spec. Today I checked the error codes, and there were 6. 12,13,15,19,22,30. So i cleared the codes today for the first time since i owned the bike, restarted it a few times while checking the codes and there are zero errors, but the idle is still rising after it warms up, when the outside temps drop at night. Im not sure what the issue is.

Sir, i have a xj6f 2016 and its rpm can stay stabile. It fixes after 7k rpm and rarely it fixes then it too much funny to ride. Spark plug oem new, airfilter new. I checked the tps sensor with diag screen. It looks like normal, i can see all value 17-90. Repairman said " probably fuel pump must be cleaned ". What do you think ?
