What’s the guarantee if another billionaire won’t buy BlueSky after it becomes influential enough. Don’t want to be addicted to any social platform anymore. Free speech is a myth. The rich are above the Constitution and the 1st Amendment. The founding principles are already eroded by the greed of the rich and the corporations and their lobbyists. Something I dont understand is why someone would buy something which does not exist yet, especially if your a new brand.

Not trying to start anything here, genuinely. Might be the reason you feel the atmosphere is calmer is because everyone largely agrees with you? I remember being on twitter in the Jack Dorsey days that you speak of, I didn't find it to be a particularly calm or welcoming place unless you had the correct beliefs. Figure the same thing is happening here, you're paradox of intollerance-ing yourselves into an echo-chamber, though that does seem to be what you want though. In the end conflict is just part of human interaction for some people and it isn't for others, it's probably for the best that there are spaces to respect that. Though I will say it's going to be hard to change culture without the discomfort of conflict, so good luck on that project.

I joined blue sky after I lost my Twitter account I mean I forgot my password I couldn't log anymore. I wasn't even enjoying it anyways. Blue sky on other hand nice and peaceful more nicer.

And plus, i can tell you this right now. Bluesky will go out of business soon without backers or ads. Bigger servers cost a lot of money. New features cost a lot of money. Thats why there are only unreliable 3rd party apps. Twitter bled money and wasnt any innovation in years. This will be the same.

Bluesky is still centralized. The open protocol just lets you pull your content out...to put where exactly? If you are really concerned about centralized control, Mastodon is where to go. What you actually want is an amazing free experience. There's no free lunch. Bluesky is still for profit and taking VC money. They will have to enshittify eventually. The answer is Mastodon, but that involves effort and maybe chucking a few dollars at the server operator from time to time and people aren't about that life 🙄

Twitter (or X) was good training for us. We now recognise behaviours in other users, and can decide to block them if we don't like those behaviours. For example, I've been followed around ten times by people who claim to have won the lottery and want to give money away to their followers - instant block. I routinely look at the timeline of anyone who follows me, and block them if I feel it's inappropriate. Also, the block actually works.

You nuked your X account for an alternative reason, many people have accounts on multiple platforms. The proof you didn't just switch or have both you nuked the account.

I deleted my Twitter app due to its persistent removal of features, the one that forced me to say enough is enough is they allowed blocked accounts to view my posts.
