These folks don’t comprehend who they’re watching. Only a few years later that big burly guy will be one of the greatest voices in Country.

One of the finest songwriters of this generation. Right up there with Simon, Lennon, Springsteen, Dylan, Taupin/John, Earle, Mellencamp, Prine, Keen, Lovett, Parton, Townes VanZandt, Williams, ...

Chris on lead vocals...I remember thinking..."man I never heard bluegrass sung like that!" Beyond Chris, Tammy Rodgers is a wizard on fiddle

I wish to God they were still around. TGC just isn't a replacement, for the kind of service you could get from the RC generation of local music services. I loved the stories. We're forced to deal now, with the online leviathan. Hope you're resting peacefully and thank you for all you've done for music!

One of a kind guy! I had the honor to work as his Saturday Store Security Guard for several years in the 80s....So many wonderful people that worked in that store......So sorry to find out that he is now with Nadine (his wife) in Heaven..... Will never forget George Luther.......Treated this old "off-duty" Atlanta Cop as a personal friend.....Rest in peace, my friend!

Watching this remembering Mike Henderson. He and Chris wrote most of the songs on their first two albums as well as many of the songs on the third album although they had both left the band by then. How in the world these guys didn't become absolutely huge is beyond me. RIP

Yeah, missing Hendo. Things are getting mighty quiet in the local halls of tunesville.

Chris should have stayed in this genre of music. His vocal style has been run in to the ground. Tired of hearing his tone of voice.

IMO this was not only the best bluegrass band but the best band EVER. And that first album is my all time favorite of any ever. I met them in Florida shortly before he left them. Stapleton is on humble guy

This was the beginning of when people would know who the MAN actually is....Chris Stapleton set the vocal bar so high that it's untouchable by any country or bluegrass singers.

I bought an Ampeg V4 amp head from him in 1971. $350. I didn't know he was the owner of the store (Buckhead location). He didn't have it in stock but convinced me to order it and he promised it would be delivered to my parents house 350 miles away. Took 6 weeks to get there. He could have just persuaded me to buy one of his used trade-in amps (in stock) but he didn't. I don't think he cared. I was just another stupid rock & roll kid from the sticks. Like a hundred others that day.

My son was born in March 1990. I named him Stevie Ray. I first saw SRV in the Cold Shot video. I became a fan that night. SRV plugged his soul into an amp and shared it with us all. Rest in peace, SRV
