My aunt made a green jello mixed with (Cream cheese, cool whip, cottage cheese - I don’t know which) with green grapes and finely chopped pecans. My favorite food at holidays!

Hate raisins. I'm going to use chocolate chips in this one. I watch "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" every year. It's not Halloween until I see it! "I GOT A ROCK!" 🤣

Bisquick is a bit different now since manufacturers had to reduce transfats. I don’t know if it makes a difference when making older recipes. IDK if most people can taste any difference.

Maybe you'll have 2k or 1.75k subs before the holidays? Here is a show you could view as a premiere with your subs very lovely ladies here demoing their holiday favorites (and they do reference a couple of cookbooks --- have you them on your shelf?) Just a thought I had when I started watching them and remembered your channel. "kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaK1dHRtgM6nZ8ksi=bbE1xYcqRApY4F_x"

If you can get a hold of betty Crocker's pasta cookbook ('95) burgundy with ravioli on the front, there is a recipe for creamy chicken rigatoni that is my absolute favorite. The beef stroganoff in there is also amazing

One thing I noticed in each if these particular sides is that you stated they were "light". Considering the "heaviness" of some of the main course items, I think this lighter fare is a great option to enjoy the meal without that overstuffed feeling. Good call. Also, yes every family has the relatives that bring their specialty to the table! We had Jell-O mold Dorothy, and Aunt Linda's Clam Dip. We teased her annually that she needn't bother showing up without the Clam Dip!😊 She always came through. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 everyone.

Thank you, these look delicious. I would have to look for yellow corn meal in South Africa. Is it the same as polenta?

Here's one of those holiday must haves/quasi salads: 1 can of apple pie filling, 1 drained can of fruit cocktail (must have maraschino cherries) and as many of those miniature marshmallows as you think is appropriate (maybe a similar amount? about a cup?). If you feel the need to add a banana, I would use a slightly green one and dip the slices in lemon juice before adding. Another option if you like sweetened coconut shreds would be to add about 1/2 C. of those too. I cut up the apple slices if they are too big for a dessert spoon. Lightly toss all together and refrigerate. It keeps well. It can be very sweet (due to the pie filling) so it can fit in as a dessert. We had this in the 60-70-80's growing up and when I feel nostalgic I reach for those pantry items and can get an immediate fix. It can keep in the fridge for about a week, but no freezing. Not everyone I've lived with as an adult likes this when I make it, but that just leaves more for me (it doesn't get slimy but it is wet/moist so if you have texture issues you will want to skip). Bon Appetit!

Oh Anna, What a WONDERFUL video! I couldn't watch it last night, so I am sitting here this morning watching with a growling stomach& I am intrigued with the all the recipes! The Sweet Potato coconut puff looks delish and so pretty in that Corning Wear dish. I have that same dish, I put my sweet potato's in it every year for Thanksgiving! So cool. I really want to try that Corn Scallop, it looks really tasty. I have never seen a Glorified Rice recipe, it kinda reminded me of Ambrosia, which i've had at EVERY holiday meal since I can remember. Thanks for sharing these tasty meals. I always enjoy your videos.

Thank you for sharing the recipes. I tried that potato soup - It is really good and very easy to make. I love that it calls for carrots (and celery) - it makes it a little different from other potato soups. Great recipe - thank you!!

Like you sweet potatoes were a BIG NO..... until a Thanksgiving at my grandmother's. She mashed with a touch of brown sugar, butter, and orange juice. She baked them in the oven IN the reamed out orange halfs.. My kids still ask for them on holidays.

😂 Laughing at your commentary on the tomato aspic! My mom makes a slight variation on the sweet potatoes. It doesn't have coconut and has streusel on top. But it's the same fluffy base, not overly sweet. So yummy! Thanksgiving sides are the best part.

Thanksgiving is all about the traditional foods. My mother, who was a phenomenal cook, made everything from scratch, but as a child in the ‘50’s, I suppose most folks did. My father was not a squash or sweet potato person, so I didn’t experience sweet potatoes or pumpkin pie until I moved out of the house. Our Thanksgiving dinner always included creamed boiled onions, scalloped scallops (a recipe conceived by my maternal grandmother), and French silk pie for the dessert, along with dried fruits and nuts in the shell to nibble on with that last cup of coffee before the onerous task of kitchen clean up. Unfortunately, my very beloved but picky husband refuses to eat onions or anything that lives in the water, so since our marriage those delectables have been off the table. However, everyone LOVES the pie, and my daughter continues the tradition of serving the scallops as a side at holiday meals. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, but I do love to eat, lol!
