Great video and tight editing. Love your bright use of colours! One suggestion - you have your camera set to autofocus while drawing, and it is zooming in/out in the same shot as your hand moves around. If you manual focus/lock focus on your paper it'll stop that distracting in/out zoom

Congratulations Kat. This might be my next thing to do because I’ve suddenly gone on a “go-slow” after drawing everyday. True if you’re consistent then there has to be some good pages in there even if some are awful. Loads of inspiration in your videos. Hello Kat! This was so fun, and I watched it a couple of times to make sure I really saw everything. I was cracking up as you showed your new sketchbook, the size, then all those people behind you cheering/waving, haha! I look forward to your videos, and learn new things all the time. I love the umbrellas sketch, and the roller coaster one, and the little bridge one that you didn't have footage of. I really like them all though. I like your honesty about struggles as I can relate as I learn to sketch more. Thank you for being inspiring. I am looking up my local chapter for sketchers in the Midwest USA. Found one not too far. Thank you! Paula

The most child-like sketches are often the most popular on IG, Flickr or whatever. Hyperrealism isn't necessarily the best. Jean Michel Basquiat is 1 of the best examples of an artist who skyrocketed to fame for his scribbles. The most popular urban sketchers are far from realistic in their renderings. It is hard to for me to be loose as an autistic. Your art is lovely!

Lovely video. Which Luminance orange is that when you mention your Alma Mater? It’s dynamic and vibrant. Also; for the #3 materials challenge, how do you select colours? What’s an easy approach - to aim for a light, middle and dark tone? It’s just that I always feel a little overwhelmed with choices / options. Hope your health stays on the up too!
@sketchingtheworldwithkatАй бұрын
The orange is dark cadmium orange (#533). I don't really have a process for picking materials. The light, middle, dark would be easiest way to do it but I use different approaches. Sometimes I have a particular material I want to use so pick two others to go with it, other times it's just colours I have left over on my palette. I have a little box of things I got to test out, like a few intense blocks etc so sometimes pull something out of that. It can be good to use materials that blend well so that you get a dark tone that way.
@janegrew948528 күн бұрын
