I almost never get out watercolor paper for watercolor. As a matter of fact, my current sketchbook is just a leda art supply, which is only 120 gsm, and I use watercolor in it. It does make it crinkly, and I have to let it dry between washes (but I love the crinkle) Just saying, I've gotten a million times better with watercolor using cellulose paper. Now, when I use cotton paper, It's like.. this is easy af lol

The only pencils without bar code stickers are those in sets. ALL pencils (for artists) that are sold open stock, including Derwent, Faber Castel, Caran D'Ache and Prismacolor will have a bar code sticker on them. What I do is sharpen each pencil, and then peel the edge of the remaining sticker (which is easier when you sharpen them first) and the label comes right off. I simply cannot fathom leaving that sticker on there...but maybe that's just a problem for perfectionists ...lol. I enjoyed this video btw. I found it right after having a conversation with my husband explaining why I have so many sets of colored pencils, and how different types do different things. My current most used are my Chromaflow pencils..it's nice that I can mix and match them with my Prismas. Plus I know that if I need to replace one, I don't have to donate my first born to do so! Yay Derwent!

Kat, great painting, but you didn’t tell us how you went. Did you make enough to cover your expenses? Or were you disappointed with the financial result? Or were you ecstatic? And would you do it again? I used to have market stalls with my artwork on them many years ago. Just interested. Well done. 🌼

Looks like the ink pens are the same as watercolour brushes which screw the opposite way. Confuses a lot of people, I thought some thing was wrong with mine at first.

Happy New Year! I love the Derwent Drawing Pencils; bought a 12 tin, then bought the other 12 open stock from Eckersleys…I hadn’t known I’d love them so much! If I had, I’d have got the full 24 all in one go 😅 My faves are Chocolate, Ink Blue, and probably Earth Green or Ruby Earth …or Sanguine. 😂

I typically really love super waxy colored pencils like prisma color and derwent drawing but i got ultramarine and green ochre in the luminance and love them. I also tried a few derwent lightfast dark honey and lichen green and found them to be quite similar in feel..although the color range is closer to drawing range. I wish they weren't so expensive bc im becoming an addict 😂 Im also trying to figure out what sketchbook is best for colored pencils. .do you have any suggestions?

Check out Jackson's now. I just placed an order during the Christmas sale. The supplies were so much cheaper than in Australia it more than covered the postage. I made sure to order one thing only available in UK. I'll have to wait a while but well worth it.

My favorites are always going to be Aquarius watercolors. They're from Poland, so I'm using them mainly because I'm a "product patriot" 😂 they're a-maz-ing

I have never seen liquid gouache before! Would love a demo to see how you use them…. I wonder how they differ from regular and or acrylic gouache? 🖌

Rohrer & Klingner Inks are excellent. If youndonsketching, try their "sketch & ink" line, its waterproof, fountain pen safe 🖋️ and comes in 6-8 colours. I ❤ your lazy Susan idea. I have one that Inak notnusing, sonits coming to my desk now. Thanks!

Postage in Australia is insane. It’s Australia Post problem not Jackson’s. I had an order come from Jackson’s UK and postage was cheaper than within Australia

Love your sketchbooks. I don’t mind that buckling that happens. I love the Jackson’s own cheap sketchbooks and being in UK it’s worth getting. The paper quality is surprisingly good. Have a lovely Christmas and New Year Kat. Hope you have some nice things lined up

Just as an FYI - with fountain pens, the waterproof Platinum Carbon Black is available in cartridges, for a great no-fuss drawing experience. I like having a Preppy in my art kit, with a back up cartridge just in case I run out of ink. It's wicked convenient.
