and just how do we know it is preventable hmmm ? are we God? no we ain't because heavy drinking Has Consequences. just like if a person was to decide to rob a bank etc.. now if people who really make it their business to care about themselves and stop this drinkin like asap than yeah I think that before anymore damage is done to themselves it can be corrected but hey if they don't care than hey they are on their own. cuz there's only so much the other person can do ya know? sad but true, heavy drinking is a choice, not an illness or a disease , so for anyone who does think it is an illness or a disease than they are just making excuses for themselves and those around them. same thing when someone chooses to any form of abuse against another as well as animal abuse. its a choice.

Wow! Thank you for a great podcast. I loved the focus on respecting individuals and their process towards healing. I can definitely relate to walking with eachother along the path of recovery. In aa there is a responsibility pledge: when anyone anywhere reaches out for help, i want the hand of aa always to be there and for that i am responsible. Not because we owe anything, but because the gift of sobriety is such a miracle that we WANT 'to jump in the pit and help eachother out'.

Great job, it's wonderful to see you sharing this with so many! I also liked that you made the distinction for certain people who may still be able to control their indulgences and that others may be at the point where they need to abstain I've also seen many times the "progression" of the disease in action - we used to be able to moderate, and then it got really hard to moderate so we had to learn how, and then .... no more moderation possible So just knowing how this stuff works is the first step to treating it properly!

I am so excited to see this episode! I put together the theory as I learned more and more about dopamine, and addiction, memory, learning focus, ADHD, it all seemed to come back to dopamine as the chemical; addiction is chronic low dopamine, seeking elevation, spiking and crashing, hyperfocus on pursuing the substance, and god just the alienation growing up as a kid feeling so 'other' It's wild, how it all comes full circle and goes hand in hand. I'd be so curious to see a poll or a big study to see, how many people who really relate to being an addict also have ADHD or are on the spectrum somewhere. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 80%+

I usually enjoy listening to these podcasts. Unfortunately i found this episode very disrespectful. Definitely not an open minded discussion about harm reduction and abstinence. The comment, " sometimes it is okay to have a little fun " in relation to addiction was shocking. I have never heard being kind to someone suffering from an addiction refered to as enabling them. I also need to comment on the 4th step moral inventory in relation to rape . Nowhere in the big book of AA does it say that we must accept responsibility for the trauma we suffered or that it is our fault. I do believe that harm reduction and abstinence are both valuable treatments and that it is possibe to have a discussion about it. This was not it. It was biased and often rude.

I am literally watching my sister go through this hell nightmare😢…. It is heartbreaking to watch her have a Laps of reality😢 she knows she has a problem! She knows she has an addiction. However she refuses to to believe the drug is the cause of the issues. She’s torturing her neighbors on both sides . She thinks they have a plot to kill her , she thinks they are reading her mind, reading her dreams tapping her phone using drones . It’s been so hard to watch . We don’t know what to do. She keeps saying she’s going to get help !!! She know she needs help!!!! But won’t go to treatment because the voices (the neighbors) will follow her .

Yes maam. Like you said i worked hard reducing from 96kg to 60kg mostly cutting carbs and kind of starving and kept it for 7 years. I had developed obsession abt weight loss. Then i got fedup as basically i am a food addict. Sugar alone is not my problem. I just like food, like in one of your video you mentioned just chewing gives me pleasure i guess and voluminous food. I dont even have special food interests. I am a vegetarian but i still eat high volumes mostly carbs. Now almost 2/3 rd weight lost is regained and like u said i did it before but now i am unable to do it..

I detoxed off fentanyl and Xanax in jail. They don’t give you anything except 2 mg of Ativan 2 times a day for 2 or 3 days. That’s nothing when you’re taking 10-15 Xanax bars and 10 bags of fentanyl every day. I had a similar experience to you, I was having heart palpitations every 14 seconds, my brain was rushing a thousand miles per hour and seconds felt like hours. If I had a button that would have taken me out if I pressed it, I would have done it 100x over. Thinking about those types of experiences is what keeps me sober today.

Ive smoke crack for a while and when i do it i hear stuff extra clear. For example i hear my neighbors always saying everything i do. If i get ready to smoke they say look he's going to do drugs again or look he's freaking high! Its always something negative tho. there's been times where i record to see if i really am hearing what im hearing or if its just bcuz of the drugs n when i go back n listen to the recording i tend to hear them too?? One thing i should mention is they live on the 3rd floor and i live on the 1st across from them right n from they're windows yu can see my room clearly n ive actually caught them looking at my room window a couple of times so im not sure if they really are watching me or if its the drugs. Also i have 3 covers covering my window and i still heard them saying everything i do.. there been times where i hear them even when i havent done any crack??? So i really am confused. One thing i should say is i use opiods as well when i do cocaine but ive never heard anything/one when using the opiod only?. Anyone have some advise/input i can soak in bcuz i dont have anyone to vent/ talk about those type of personal problems in my life.

Psychosis can last a long time, even after quitting. Some have it as long as 18 months after quitting, but those are more severe cases w looooong use. I have a friend that I'm currently fighting w because he's accusing me of doing all sorts of things and it's 100% false. Even being in the same room, he will suddenly become SOOO mad! I literally did NOTHING. I'm just sitting quietly watching a movie... it flat pisses me off! His drug of choice is meth. But all in all, it ALL effects your brain. I 100% believe HE, like yourself do believe these things even though you may "know" otherwise. Your reality is 100% altered. I hate you're going through this, but one thing I can promise you, is that if you continue, this will worsen. It can get bad, and what's more scary is the fact it can become permanent. You've GOT to find something you love more than the high. That starts w you. You are worth it. You're worth saving. You have a purpose on this earth, and those drugs will keep you from every dream you've ever had. Don't loose everything you love for that ONE thing (the high) Let go of that one thing to gain EVERYTHING back ❤

This is the most ridiculous advice ive ever heard for someone with a food addiction🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ I am a medical practitioner and have 38+ years of eating disorders. Abstinence from sugar and sweet tastes is the ONLY way to combat that which I did via Ketovore and carnivore eating style. You can’t keep feeding the dragon and become free from food addiction that is just pure nonsense. And anyone who tells people otherwise to sell something has no clue about biochemistry 🤦🏼‍♀️🥴

lol your talk is strong enough you don't need all the darting in and out and sound effects a lot of KZbinrs are doing these days, in your case, its a bit distracting. I suggest not to do so many zoom in and outs and kill the sound effects. Your lecture is interesting enough to glue the listener.
