Humans have became Homo colossals, giant resource consumers . This has depleted resources. As aspirations grew, now 8200 colossals emulate same life. Vedic rishis lived simple material lives. Showing these type of things, will make many disappointed for their current modest lives

Here is my contribution to the list of Cons (2024). I am sure many know about the positives which appear on the surface but Cons you will feel mostly once you come here. 1. Your spouse cannot work! If he/she has to, they have to have their own independent H1. 2. Like in India, you will not get maid's to do Houseold chores. If you really want it, you will have to pay your whole salary just for that. 3. The Health care situation is Pathetic here. Really really Pathetic!!! I am saying this with good knowledge about the medical field. It is enormously expensive. You may have noticed most of the Indians living here get most of their dentals and other stuff done when they go to India on Vacation. Due to it being expensive + poor quality, most of the Adults here postpone their treatment or mostly try to resolve with Home remedies. Trust me folks, the Health care that we have in India is Amazing (True Freedom we have in India). There is a lot lot that can be talked about this topic. For the moment, I will end it here. 4. Taxation: Despite this Visa being temporary, US Govt. deducts your Social Security Tax (In India terms it's same as PF) and Medicare tax (For retirement Health Insurance not deducted in India). This component is 10%+ your Gross Pay. Ideally the benefits of this deduction can only be realized once you get a Green Card and as you all know the situation with Green Card for Indians, you will never get to enjoy this in your lifetime. US knows this very well I think 🙂and that's y they still sponsor H1B's so that you all contribute to their SSN + Medicare fund without mostly ever utilizing it. 5. The Weather here is not that suiting to us is my observation. Lot of un expected sickness happen here which are hard to detect and you end up spending lot of money on Health care. This situation could differ from region to region in US as this is a huge country with different weather conditions. Especially your Spouses have high probablity to go through depression here. Also lot of processed food is a big contributing factor for this. 6. Visa Hassle: This is a super pain. You will be restricted to travel on different occassions and situations. Like say after the first slab of your H1B which is 3y say you initiate an extension, you get 240 days until a decision comes from USCIS so till that time you can't travel. If you do, mostly you will loose your job, you cannot come back until a decision is done and even if a positive decision comes you will have to first apply for Visa. You can imagine the Pain right? What will you do if something happened to your loved one in your home country? Different situation for people with family and Bachelors. 7. Cost of Housing: Current times (2024) are pretty bad! At least 25% of your Gross Pay (Assuming you are earning say 100k gross) will go in this expense for a reasonable average house. And still you will not get a satisfying place to say. US looks good/amazing in the outside, but the insides of a House could be Pathetic!! Trust me. You will be surprised to know that despite paying such a high rent, you will still have Pests including rats/mouse/mice in your residence!!! Yes, you heard that right. 8. Free Schooling in US is a Myth now in 2024: Yes you heard that right. There was a time when Public education had true glory like about a decade back. But now it's mostly a place for eating away public funds by the once who run it. Most of the classes don't have teachers most of the times. Such classes are substituted with people who can't even speak English!!! Note that Free Schooling is not really free!! They recover their money through the high rent that you Pay as there is high property tax which indirectly raises your rent!! I had an experience with my Son. One of his class just after 3 month of school, the Teacher took medical leave and never came back, so remaining months there was a substitute (who does not teach anything, just takes attendance!!) and my Son didn't learn anything further in that subject!! Can you imagine!! I have a Lot lot more to write. I will do it another day 🙂. I will edit this or creat my own content to explain further. There was a time when coming to US was truely an Amazing experience. But Trust me folks, now it is NOT and deteriorating in a very fast pace.

This Chrome extension/plugin provides up-to-date H1B history, salary data, E-verify records, sponsorship analysis, and AI-powered resume matching. Highly recommended!

People think more degrees = more money and that is the myth which needs to be busted. I think we can safely say that for the large part, PHD makes you overqualified for the general job market, consumes a lot of time and there is a high probability you won't get your phd in the end. I know so many bright IIT grads who are either doing mediocre jobs post Phd or have given up.

Maybe one solution could be is to have a maximum duration of extension on new H1B, like max 6 years after which you cant extend it anymore and have to wait 1 or 2 years. That could potentially free up space for others. This makes sure that people come with the mindset of being a temporary worker.
