I haven't read dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde either, and only recently -think last year, read Frankenstein and Dracula. All three are stories I'm familiar with from film. I read Blindness and liked it, I'm curious to see what you make of Seeing. Love Mort! :) ran a fun readalong of it with Scott and Kevvie a couple years ago, good pick. Gideon is so polarising, I can't wait to see what you think lol. I tried a few years ago and gave up and then tried it as part of an instagram readalong at the start of this year, and once I got past chapter two I loved it! Clearly it just needed to find me at the right time. I have tried Jonathan S and Mr N 4 times and DNF'd it 4x, I won't kid myself that 5th time will be a charm. Clearly it's a popular book I just don't feel hooked by. Your plans sound wonderful. Am envious, a great list ... I know there no point for me to do a list, not working for me this year. I've been meaning to try little women for ages and you've reminded me how people often say it's a Christmas book because of the start, this may be the year I actually get to it. I also want to get to book thief, I started it last year but I think I wasn't in the right place and want to try again, your making me want to pick it up now ready fir your wrap up next month ... But I have library books to finish first! Although I'm considering DNFing my current and that's rare for me (I'm giving Matt Haig another chance, but I'm beginning to think I shouldn't have) I have also got a big soft spot for the penguin English library paperbacks as I'm not a massive fan of hardbacks. Oddly enough, my one exception to this is ... Discworld books. I also started with Mort... But like 25+ years ago now as I found him a teenager. I then went on to read all discworld. I keep meaning to reread. To me discworld is reminiscent read of betwixtmas as I would get the new one for Christmas and devour it Christmas day and early boxing day morning, so to me, you have picked the best time of year to start the series. I would personally recommend both the city watch and witch subseries if you like Mort and for me I felt that the moist vin lipwig were the most readable. Jonathan strange and Mr norrell, it's been a while, about 15+ years since I read it. But from what I remember, it's not a massive cast, or at least not significant people....or I'm forgetting lots of them! Happy reading - can't wait to hear your thoughts on them all.
