You'd have to work 3 jobs to get a Kami Katana worth $2000. 😑

"What sword is better" is a question asked by someone who never wielded one. They focus more on the tool rather than the man using it. Like asking which Martial Art is best.

Quality production. Was wondering if you work from a script or just wing it? Liked the history content. One of my favorite sword/samurai movies; Red Sun. Charles Bronson brought a gun to a sword fight. Old movies have the best stories.

Great presentation 🙏 imagine the Katana having that pommel, because when you wield longsword, there is a situation, if you can imagine, 2 opponents, the 1 in front you clear his weapon, and then move closer, use pommel as hammer, fast turn your body, and is ready for 2 opponent 🙏Inspiration to Music ⚡️" Wherever I May Roam " by Metallica ⚡️

@cerberarusarms what would really be nice is if you do a video or videos about the origins and styles of the Bowie knife.

I also thought the Katana was the better sword. More maneuverable quicker and overall more deadly.

I don’t fully buy into the truth of this video. Less weight on the smaller, 200 dollar katana would in fact make it feel flimsier relative to its proportions and that of the 2,000 dollar, larger sword. Also, the types of steel and how the handle is made would significantly impact the differences in how the sword feels and cuts. Lastly, the fact that the 2,000 dollar sword is heavier plays a tremendous role in whether or not the ‘double cut’ in this video is successful.

The samples are modern ones, so it doesn't take advantages/disadvantages the different cultures had in terms of metallurgy and craftsmanship.

European swords were designed to pierce armor at the joints while the katana was meant to slice unarmored opponents

I think you nailed it at the 6:30 mark about fighting styles. You want a rifle for distance & a handgun for closer requirements. Different blades are for different designations & end results, & skill levels. I've taught martial arts including blade use & defense but always open minded & willing to learn. Great job on this!

we cant make a katana like they use to be comparing the new age one to old ones doesnt work also with a real one from 1000 years ago they could cut through other swords do research please for fuck sake ps none of those hits with the long sword would do any damage and you arent useing the katana right as a 5th black belt and raised in marshal arts from multiple styles

Swords do not reliably cut through other swords, especially not when made with medieval steelmaking technology.....

Real katanas are very sharp. With some work, a lonsworn can be really sharp. too. One thing about katanas is that they curve to the edge, which requires a specially shaped sharpening stone. Most other blades vomr to a V.

a bit disrespectful. my 70+ year old Ninjitsu Sensei would still kick your ass, bro. (8. Dan Allkampf, 5. Dan Taekwon-Do (WTF), 4. Dan Jiu-Jitsu, 3. Tuan Kung-Fu (Taiwan), 3. Dan Hapkido, 3. Dan Tang Soo Do/Karate, 1. Dan Shaolin Kempo u.a.) Sho Kosugi, the Hollywood Ninja would kick your ass, Steven Seagal would rip out your arms..., and Stephen K Hayes (75) would destroy you easily. real Ninjitsu is using what works from all combat arts and make it your own style, not participate in a tournament for trophies.

As a teacher of engineering mathematics, I can tell you that if the balance is going to be close to the end, you need a really heavy tip. That means a very thick tip, which is not going to give you good penetration. I agree with the commenter below, the balance point (centre of mass, technically) should be much closer to the cross guard, which will give you excellent mobility.
