The way the audio is mixed, the accent/tap definitions (and of course the writing) in all of your cadences are so good, I haven't heard anything nearly as good sounding anywhere else. I have no idea what "Cakewalk" is but it would be cool if you like made a tutorial on like your writing and mixing process, these cadences are so high quality. Also when are you gonna write another cadence???

Cakewalk is a DAW from the makers of Bandlab. I mainly used that one over other DAWs because it was completely free. It's been a while since I've been into cadence writing and MS4 now has VST support. My main recommendation for achieving accent/tap definitions would be to hide dynamic markings in the score for audio playback. That's how I used to do it before I started manually setting velocities in a DAW. For mixing audio, that'll depend on the soundfont/vst you're using. For VDL, I think I used some EQ to reduce some weird frequencies to clean up the sound. Then I threw a compressor on to help accentuate dynamic changes.

bro it's funny how many of us basically did the same conceptual thing...I just released a video of a cadence I wrote for my college that we never used but that was heavily based on Vanishing Point as well...called mine Bumper 2.0. It's interesting to see everyone's different additions and takes on the same basic composition. But watching this I can definitely say that you got way more creative than I did with mine...good stuff though! My video is up now if ya care to watch it :D

What VDL bass drum soundset did you map to in Cakewalk? The basses sound more articulate with a more refined attack than the stock VDL 2.5 sounds, so I was curious if maybe you mapped it to VDL 1, or otherwise adjusted the bass drums in some way?
@DanielMakesCadences
@DanielMakesCadences 3 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late response. I still use VDL 2.5.5 basses. The way I achieve the more articulate sounds is by applying an EQ and two compressors in Kontakt. To go more into depth, I actually have almost every sample for the bassline isolated out so I have more control over tuning and how each drum is EQed. It is a lot of work to do and I don't think I'd be able to share the kontakt multi. I would recommend just playing around with eq and compressors until you get the sound you like.

Nice cadence, but the tap off is written incorrectly compared to how it sounds. On beat 3 of measure 2 you’re missing a sixteenth note rest. Unless if it’s just hard to see and there is a sixteenth note and an eighth note together. Otherwise, it’s very creative! Well done!
@DanielMakesCadences
@DanielMakesCadences 2 жыл бұрын
It is hard to see actually since the video resolution is at 720p. M2 B3 is 16th rest, 16th left, and then 8th right. You can download the PDF in the description through dropbox just to be sure
