Yeah marching band would be less dorky if they knew how to work their basses better like this instead of the usual little drummer boy type stuff.

Hey Daniel! I hear you might have tuned the basses?
@DanielMakesCadences4 жыл бұрын
Indeed I have as well as the tenors. I’m still doing a lot of tweaks, but in terms of EQ and compression I think I have the sound I want out of the basses. Since the recording of this track, I’ve fine tuned the intervals so it would be a bit more cleaner for future cadences.

@@DanielMakesCadences assuming this is musescore, how do you do that???
@DanielMakesCadences4 жыл бұрын
Zachary Brenna Depends on which sound library you're using. Are you using MuseScore's MDL extension? Or are you using Virtual Drumline or RUMBLE in Kontakt connected to MuseScore?
@ElementalJerk4 жыл бұрын
Daniel Makes Cadences I am Using stock MDL

Zachary Brenna Stock MDL as in the one that comes packaged with MuseScore? Or is it the one available through downloading an extension?

Nice cadence, but the tap off is written incorrectly compared to how it sounds. On beat 3 of measure 2 you’re missing a sixteenth note rest. Unless if it’s just hard to see and there is a sixteenth note and an eighth note together. Otherwise, it’s very creative! Well done!
@DanielMakesCadences2 жыл бұрын
It is hard to see actually since the video resolution is at 720p. M2 B3 is 16th rest, 16th left, and then 8th right. You can download the PDF in the description through dropbox just to be sure
@DanielMakesCadences2 жыл бұрын
Looking at it myself, the old style I used with MuseScore 3's initial launch is hard to read. I don't think it is an issue with my newer cadences however
@zachdrumfield3 жыл бұрын
the bass drums sound soooo good in this dude, awesome job!! was it just an eq adjustment?
@DanielMakesCadences3 жыл бұрын
They sound even better in my latest videos I think. What I did actually was take each of the samples and tune them to modern intervals (basically the intervals every DCI line nowadays use). I also did some EQ adjustment along with other filters, though I do need to work on that to improve the sound even more. If you want more details, feel free to ask!
@williamz8330 Жыл бұрын
Is measure 2 missing a 16th note?

No. The video quality makes one of the eighth notes look like a sixteenth note.

So you said you composed this with MuseScore. How do you get the smaller notes for the solos notated in musescore?
@DanielMakesCadences4 жыл бұрын
Select the notes in question, open inspector, and there should be a tick box for that says "small". Make sure to only select the notes and don't include the beams and stems and all that. You'll have to do grace notes separately too

Looking through all of my work that I've posted and I actually agree with you to an extent. A lot of the stuff I've written would be better for a drumline battle or street performance situation. I've heard a lot of feedback that it would be hard to find downbeats (this has mainly been a complaint with this cadence in particular). It was a lot of fun to write though. I feel like bands could adjust rhythms where necessary to suit their needs.
