The fundamental problem with abstraction is the regurgitation of its aesthetic properties, the aesthetic codifications peaked many years ago, some may argue that it ended as soon as it began. (think of Rothko's 1 colour work) If everything has been done, abstraction appears bland, and banal, more decoration than idealisation.

22:39 she felt peoples suffering? doesn’t make sense considering she was bombing buildings where people would be in… she shouldn’t be free… clinton bailed her out on his last day in office 🤦🏻♂️

How can women be so critical of a woman who was such an advocate for women in poverty not being saddled down with with half a dozen hungry mouths to feed while the father is out doing as he pleases. Yes she was a bit racist, but in the big picture she was a trailblazer for women's equality. I can't help but admire her courage ...

And gave this talk 14 years ago and I am writing in June 2024 and the situation with abortion has gotten so bad. This whole Trump Maga thing is trying to control women by controlling their bodies and their freedom. Even contraceptives and IVF are up for grabs now and putting women in jail for having abortions is on the table. We are going backwards rapidly. I'd like to hear what she has to say today

I was rather baffled by the square map of edo at the start of the exhibit being mounted with the text of the key not reading properly. It is mounted as if read left to right but you can see the characters are all written in the traditional up to down. But perhaps I overlooked something that drove an intentional decision That said I lovedddd this exhibit. Being able to see all 100 up close was a rare treat in and of itself. Then you get to see Murakami’s recreations even larger for you to enjoy. He also goes a step further for a few that are printed extra big (wall size) and adds his own tiny murakami character to a handful or so of them, making you have to look even more closely than some might normally. Genius.

1974 , Bedford ave near Eastern parkway: a lady, butt naked , ran out down the street from a Brownstone apartment building. She was frantically holding onto the handle of a police vehicle that happened to be waiting for the light to turn green at the corner of St John street. She pounded on the window , all the while screaming and hollering for help as the man who was chasing her hesitated abruptly to proceed . The vehicle sped away from the scene , leaving the woman to helplessly fend for herself. The man grabbed her by the hair and escorted his naked possession, up those Brownstone stairs into the building.
