just turned 27 this year. been a doors fan since 5th grade. always wondered what I would be like if I made it this long. weird feeling crossing that bridge from youth to adulthood now and outliving your childhood idols. strange days indeed

My son and I saw Robbie at the Whiskey a month ago. Before the show, as we were all stuffed nuts to butts, they played this over the speakers before Robbie came out. It was unbelievable, everyone was singing so loud. What a memory

*This album is so spectacular. Some regard it as a Roger Waters' first solo album, but that's just humbug. It's full of the band's earlier explorations and topics done in the only way Floyd could work their magic. It's dedicated to his father, but that's far from admitting that it's Waters' album alone. It's an utterly brilliant set of songs - and should really have been their swan song*

I swear to God 3 of my friends and I met a guy that looked and sounded EXACTLY like Jim Morrison while having dinner in a small little town in northern Califronia in the mid-1980s. We were talking about the music of the 1960s and how it was so much better than anything that was being made these days, and this guy in his later 40s or early 50s overheard us and kind of interjected in to our conversation from the next table. He started talking about the 1960s music scene like he had inside industry knowledge... even made some interesting comments about John Fogerty of CCR. He claimed he worked in "waste disposal" but I swear in hindsight it looked and sounded exactly like an older Jim Morrison. I didn't realize it until later that night when I got home from dinner. That has stuck with me over the decades for some reason...

Jim was not a much-loved figure among his peers at those times. For instance, Janis Joplin, David Crosby, Eric Burdon, they all hated Jim. However, he became popular and idolized by all future generations. His enemies had to swallow this fact. Jim was one of the most beloved psychopaths in rock history.
