Hi! Amazing race and set up! The saddle bag is the 6l backcountry version? For a bigger trip, between the 14l expedition saddle and the 10l backcountry saddle bag aside of the volumen(my 5days kit is around 10l) wich one have better antiswing (more ride stability) or both are "the same" Thanks a lot for the feedback

Wow! Never doubt yourself, you are someone who could cross that river! I would have not even attempted it, specially on my own, would have turned around and headed back.

Noticed no cook stove, which does add some weight. how did you get on with food? Just snacks? BTW congrats on your time. Also did your waterproof trousers taper so they wouldn't catch in the chain ring?
@JennyTough_6 ай бұрын
Definitely not cooking during a race! I had a few hot meals along the course, as there are pretty constant resupply options in the route. Between those I carried snacks and cold sandwiches.
@davidmcconnon28006 ай бұрын
@@JennyTough_ OK thanks for the reply. I'm hoping to do it later in the year and as I have coeliac disease, so no gluten, makes it not so easy to do the food on such a light strategy. So thanks for the info. BTW how did your waterproof trousers go? My issue is keeping them out of the chain ring. Might just use rubber bands. We're yours tapered at the ankles? Thanks again.

Really great to see this. Is there anything you would do differently (except maybe eat more😅)?
@JennyTough_6 ай бұрын
If I did the route again I would try it on my full-suss with a dropper post. I was glad to have a much lighter weight bike for the race, as I'm so much faster climbing on it, but I think a lot of the riding would be more fun with a proper MTB!

What was your sleep schedule like over the 5 days? What lighting and power would you have used without the dynamo?
@JennyTough_6 ай бұрын
It's only dark out for 3-4 hours a night, so that dictated my sleep! Aside from the last night, when I did not sleep at all, I tried to get 3 hours. If I hadn't used the dynamo I would have just taken a couple of external battery packs. My head-mounted light is my primary anyway, so it wouldn't have changed much to be without the dynamo. Really, if I didn't already have one, I wouldn't have missed it! Not necessary at all on that slow moving terrain.

Thank you for sharing this! Is this the 4 litre Apidura frame bag?
@JennyTough_6 ай бұрын
yes it is!
@benmoulam68896 ай бұрын
Hi Jenny - you said you waterproofed your backback? Isn't the main compartment fully WP out of the box then? Also, I recently found that downtube bag lets in water (where the strap wraps through the lining) - feedback for your contacts at Apidura!
@JennyTough_6 ай бұрын
I believe it is waterproof, but mine has seen a lot of use and I had put it through the washing machine a few times, so I nikwaxed it again for peace of mind. It worked! I didn't have any troubles with water inside my downtube bag - you definitely have to fold it 3x (so not overstuffed). If your bag is faulty definitely let Apidura know as they do free repairs!

How much water capacity did you have? I see a 1 liter bottle. Also who makes the pack you rode in?
@JennyTough_6 ай бұрын
Just the 1L bottle - there isn't a moment in the Highlands where you aren't close to a water source, so I never went thirsty! The pack is Apidura :)

I didn’t catch the bit about the tires. I don’t like tubeless, is there a better option to avoid punctures? There’s not much content on KZbin about this race, would be great to see a wee video up the highs and lows. Thanks for sharing Jenny.
@JennyTough_6 ай бұрын
Thanks G! I would definitely not ride this terrain with tubes. I used inserts in addition to sealant - yes, it's a huge ordeal to get them set up, but no punctures!
