Beautiful, as always! A couple of tips based on the things you indicated in your commentary that you're still gaining experience with: First, regarding portrait poses: the camera doesn't lie, so sometimes you need to distract the eye. Having your subject look directly at the camera doesn't produce the most flattering photo of most people (unless you're taking photos of someone who has just had a makeover, and you're highlighting the skills of the makeup artist). When you do that, you'll get strange shadows off the nose, eyes that look sunken, or just a very stern look. Angles are your friend. Have your subject look away from the camera - experiment with how far they turn their heads while doing that. Head tilt can make for very flattering photos. Having the subject look down a bit can make the pose look softer, or more pensive. Having them look up a bit looks more cheerful. It can be fun to take pictures of women with long hair, because you can position the hair to add a whole new dimension to the shot. Kelsey happens to have gorgeous long blond hair, and when it gets a little windblown or wispy, the photo takes on an ethereal characteristic. I've noticed that in your B&W shots, but Ektachrome brings it out even more. The photo at 4:32 is a great illustration of all of this; the downward look and wisps of hair with the shadowed lighting make the photo feel peaceful and pretty. My other tip for color slide film in general is to avoid a background dominated by something white or bright, like your fence, unless the entire point of the shot is to emphasize shadows or contrast. Those are always things we pay attention to, but color slide film will seem to accentuate those contrasts even more, to the point of losing detail. The reason this happens is because color slide film is made, first and foremost, for producing images that will be projected on a screen. So, the film is optimized for sharpness and vividness, as those are the things that are reduced when you project an image on a screen. Looking forward to your next roll of Ektrachrome. These first pics are a great start, and I'm betting your next ones will be even better.

Thanks Mark. Yes that particular pic is my favorite. I did take the pics in front of the fence for that exact reason, the shadows from the trees but that’s good to know for next time. Thanks for all the great tips I will try to remember those. I went out today actually and shot a roll with some landscapes. Hope they come out good. It’s a beautiful day.

Great shots. I really prefer the saturation of Ektachrome to the sort of muted tones of Portra. Also your portraits are great. They have an intimacy that I think is better than posed shots.

Thank you Davy! It definitely tips toward the cooler blue side but I think it suited the subject. It may not be as nice on a beach with all the red sands. I’m going to try it soon

Awesome! I do like the new Ektachrome but the cost and the pain to get it developed to keep me leaning towards B&W. When it comes to home dev of E-6, I tend to build up a large backlog (10-12 rolls) and just process them over the course of two days and rip through that kit.

I used to shoot mostly slide film,but it was mostly Kodachrome. These days slide film is just too expensive for me. A good channel for information and ideas for portraits is Weekly Imogen.
