Rotating the hip back is a given. It’s the rotating through of the hip that is where the serve differs from throwing a ball. The hip rotation through the hit will cause a slice serve. This is why 90% of the women can only serve slices into the forehand pocket of eighty forehands. To keep the serve online to the bh of a rightie, the hip rotation through the hit has to be minimized. Watch Edberg land after his serve. It is the exact opposite of Murray’s and your landing.

I never comment on videos but... It's just a pet peeve of mine but I can't believe you are advocating to snap your wrist in the serve and that that is the same as internal shoulder rotation. The wrist will go from an extended position in the racquet drop and then will reach neutral in the upward swing just near contact. There is NO wrist flexion past neutral in the swing. The strings should NOT be pointing towards the ground at a 45 degree angle and that constitutes internal shoulder rotation (ISR). ISR is the racquet travels up to contact "on edge", makes contact square and then will continue to finish on the other edge of the racquet equaling 180 degrees of shoulder rotation. Watch Sampras, Federer, Isner, Shelton or any great server and notice how quickly the racquet will finish on the other "edge" after contact. In high speed video at 240 fps, the racquet will reach the other "edge" within a few clicks.

I think the biggest flaw in this motion is that your tossing arm dose not have a point of reference . Your serve is exactly like Novak serve and Novak has the same problem meaning his tossing arm dose not have a point of reference . If you study Pete serve or even Roger Both have the point of reference in their tossing arm . They both bring the tossing arm all the way down till touching their front knee ( reference point ) and that gives them a precise tossing height every time they place the toss( 100 % of time ) . In my view you and Novak must have a reference point in your tossing arm . coach T

The biggest weakness with my serve is one that I share with Novak? Good golly that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me. ❤️ 😂 Totally understand what you’re referring to with the reference point on the toss but in my opinion it's not totally necessary, especially for serves that have a more abbreviated motion. Roddick is a perfect example of a great serve with no reference point on the tossing arm.

Have you guys tried the v9 Pro? How does this compare to it? Is it even worth considering?
@drjamesg94126 күн бұрын
Really good video . The problem is - when someone says right to left ( birthday hat ) . Encourages concept using arm . It is really continuous shoulder extension ( in the horizontal plane ) which as it reaches its limit goes onto external rotation . This triggers the drop. This then is combined with the catapult effect of the lateral flexion of the spine.

Great video! What happens if the server has a tight shoulder for a good racquet drop?
@mikebleumink69066 күн бұрын
maybe stupid, but just try to let both hands hanging over your toes really loose before u start the motion. That way u avoid tention
@Playyourcourt5 күн бұрын
Thanks! If you're dealing with a tight shoulder you'll definitely want to explore exercises to loosen it and potentially strengthen the shoulder. A lot of times a tight shoulder is the result of an injury or muscles compensating for weaker surrounding muscles.

@@rehantarapurwala2936it’s not. Sinner Djokovic and Alcaraz can blast forehands like this if they wanted to. But they don’t. Why? Because in the long term 5 sets it’s not good because by the fifth set they would be out of fumes. They must gauge themselves.
