Thanks for great reviews. I am shooting adventure documentaries, and gradually stepping up. Last shoot was C70 (A cam) and R5 (B cam, tele), various RF lenses. I am trying to reduce edit/colouring issues. Would you recommend my purchase of C80 (A cam), C70 (B cam), R5 (tele) ... will the full frame v super 35 DGO etc be compatible?

Love your stuff, At 2:13 Wouldnt you just use your waveform or false colour to see highlights as opposed to eye balling the log footage in your display, that way you will know if its been clipped and then you would then have that button free.

What about the r5ii, it claims the same dynamic as the c70 and c80, do you think the image is comparable?

So my question is in a lot of cases I do you use Auto WB. I know you shouldn't but is it better in the C80? The colors always seamed off on the C70 esp wihen shooting with other cameras like the R5 and R3. Also do you prefer clog 2 or 3? Since I have the 2 R52's now. GREAT VIDEO AS ALWAYS!

I often wondered why my S1H doesn't allow you to go below 640 ISO (low base) but Canon LOG does allow belownthe base... i wonder if this is why? Most detail at native low base... but going lower is uselful at times, it's weird...

Question Griffin: What are you using to measure your 'over exposure' ? Canon's flip screen (exposure meter on the bottom)? or a SmallHD? or a BlackMagic 12G? Just curious how to compare on my C70/C80. Thank you again for everything you do!

that tiny difference doesnt make up for the price difference

I was looking at a C70 used for $3500 and thought that was a good deal. Came to KZbin to see if people still like using it this year and just found out a C80 is out. For me this year I just purchases a Canon R7 which covers a lot of things I want and maybe I'll get a C70 at some point in the future if I want more.

What do you think of the Canon R1 vs C80? Do you think there is a huge difference in image quality? 🙈

What lenses did you use? Did you use mist filters? The Komodo looks softer and more cinematic than I’ve seen it in other videos. Usually has a crisp, sharpened, digital look. This is some of the best looks I’ve seen from this camera

when the C90 comes out it should implement the sensor and features of the R5C. Being a 8K sensor able to shoot RAW to 60P.

Why does everybody do their camera tests out in the sun? Doesn't show you dynamic range or a cinematic look at all. Go inside. Show us the shadow details. But anyway, the C70 clearly has a better look to it. C80 isn't really full frame anyway as it crops in when you want to shoot 50fps or above so it may as well just be a Super 35mm sensor. The only thing that matters at the end of the day is image quality, all other arguments are meaningless.

Can't you easily use a metabones speedbooster with the Iron Glass lenses?

I am grateful for your videos. In a pinch of I shot some pick ups, B-roll with C-70, would it pass to be cut into a feature shot on Alexa mini? Exterior drive by’s with snow, early day late day… snow… lower light… it's a gritty film anyway… thanks

The FX3 has the other base ISO at 12,800.

In the canon cinema camera range, there are only two truly unique devices : the C500mkii and the C70. Both got truly organic image quality. The c400 and the c80 looks too digital/boring imo

Starting to learn that the reason cinema cameras add on stuff like raw and 4k and we’re like wait my mirror less has this is because in conception nothing else matters but the Dr of the sensor and the functioning of the camera your phone has 4k a ok cam Starting to see a lot more companies taking the arri approach

The image from C70 and C80 are different imo. The C70 has a nicer sensor.

Was hoping to see some actual footage with the Atlas Mercury + C80 combo! But I guess you weren't allowed to show it? One thing you said stuck out for me -- that you didn't see any difference between C500, C70, C80 footage. Not sure if you meant it quite that way? But to be honest, I don't see much difference, if any, in the end result on KZbin from all these cameras. I mean, I'm sure 6K will give sharper 4K output than 4K. And differences will be more visible if you're playing in a cinema. Or presumably on a TV. But, for KZbin, especially KZbin viewed on smartphones, is 6K really much sharper for anyone except pixel peepers? Real-world difference might be things like 12,800 ISO and SDI port. More like quality of life improvements than image quality.

One thing I enjoy about your channel is so many of these guys organize "productions" for these type videos, but in reality, its something they've coordinated specifically just for their KZbin channel, or to sell a product they have a mutual benefit type relationship with...with your videos, it feels like you put these cameras and lenses through authentic daily work you are doing. I think it changes the tone. I dig it

Do you need crop in when you shoot 60 fps in raw ? You can shoot full frame,60 fps raw in 8k on The R5c 😬

Its tuff to make a decsion kike which canera to buy. C70/80 r5c

8 years using panasonic. then 8 years using sony. This is the first time im debating going to canon. camera looks great.

I wish Canon enabled open gate on the C400 and C80. Unlike the C500 II and C70, the new cameras actually have a 3:2 sensor (that seems to be the same as the Canon R3)

SD cards in a 2024 camera at that price point is a deal breaker for me.
