Tumi is it possible to go over targets for breastfeeding? Ive been raw since 2008 but have struggled with knowing or feeling guided on what is best for my baby. Ive been supplementing with protein powders but wonder what your view is on micro/macros? My midwife is so opinionated so I am confused 💗🙏

I don't include cooked foods in my diet, but there are many people in the raw vegan lifestyle that do include some cooked plant foods. I always recommend honoring yourself where you are, in your journey.

5:16 Watermelon is not a rich source of protein. If you want a rich source of protein on a vegan diet there's edamame, soy milk, tofu, tvp, seitan, mock meats, vegan protein powders, legumes, lentils, seeds and nuts. Foods rich in protein will have at least 20% of their calories coming from amino acids. Watermelon is a great source of fiber, water, antioxidants and some vitamins but a very poor source of protein. It's also recommended that vegans get upwards of 50% more protein than nonvegans as much of plant protein isn't as bioavailable requiring more protein intake to meet nutrient needs.

There is no scientific evidence that shows that humans need 20% of their calories coming from amino acids. In fact, 10% of calories coming from amino acids is more than sufficient AND there is now significant research linking high protein to cancer. You don't need to eat only fruits/plant foods that are "rich sources of protein."

Humans need to include salt into their diets, by not including salt and relying on the sodium in fruits alone can lead to hyponatremia, especially if you're an active person who sweats, this is a very serious condition.

That's not factual. I'm an extremely active person ( I dance and do other vigorous movement more than 2 hours daily) and have not had any issues with hyponatremia on a salt free healthy plant diet. And I'm not alone. There is no dietary requisite for adding inorganic mineral rock (including salt) to the human diet. Show me the science otherwise.

This is very dangerous. B12, iodine, selenium, calcium, Iron, essential fatty acids, essential amino acids etc., These are called essential nutrients because your body doesn't produce them. Going without B12 can lead to permanent nerve damage that is irreversible. it's likely the person in this video is too far gone judging by the content on their channel, but if any viewers are watching and are interested in a vegan diet, I highly recommend familiarizing yourself with the American Dietetic Association's position on veganism and what they define as an appropriately planned and safe vegan diet. Also, the nutrients to pay special attention to. There's also 'theveganrd' website with vegan registered dieticians overviewing what a balanced vegan diet looks like which includes fruits, whole grains, legumes, fats, and yes cooked food. No dietetic association recommends a raw vegan diet, especially just fruit. This is incredibly dangerous, please be aware. An example of a more balanced vegan diet: Breakfast- Oatmeal with peanut butter, nuts, seeds and fruit maybe a banana and apple. It also wouldn't hurt to add some vegan protein powder for additional protein or calcium fortified soy milk Lunch- grilled tofu with a bean spread on whole wheat bread maybe a soy yogurt on the side. Snack- Peanut butter with apple slices and calcium fortified soy milk Dinner- Black beans with some ground TVP (textured vegetable protein) with some rice, sauteed bell peppers and guacomole. Dessert- maybe a small bowl of fruit with some popcorn Vegan diets should always be supplemented with B12 and a multivitamin doesn't hurt to also take. Please don't follow the advice of this video it's extremely dangerous.

Apart from making sure fruit you feed your toddler (if they are having food outside of breastmilk) is of the best possible quality (grown in good soil, and RIPE), I have found salt water swishing and Theodent toothpaste (I'm not sponsored by them or affiliated with them) to be both really helpful for this issue.
