We took an Old Town Trolley Tour of Nashville, a very efficient hop-on, hop-off tour, and here's the part when we drove through Music Row in Nashville, Tennessee. The Capitol Relics on the grounds of the Tennessee State Capitol in Nashville are remnants of the original limestone Ionic columns from the Capitol building. Designed by the renowned architect William Strickland in the Greek Revival style, the Capitol was constructed between 1845 and 1859 using limestone from a local quarry. Over time, the original columns deteriorated, leading to their removal during a mid-20th-century restoration project. These column fragments were preserved and later arranged on the Capitol grounds as a tribute to the workers who built the structure, including enslaved laborers whose contributions were historically significant yet underacknowledged. Charles Waterfield, who worked on the Capitol's restoration, is credited with arranging the relics near the northern belvedere of Capitol Drive. We stayed at The Capitol Hotel Downtown Ascend Hotel Nashville in Nashville, Tennessee. November 10, 2024. King Room 505. A few points: ✔️excellent staff - like above and beyond! we skipped housekeeping, and without a request, they left us fresh towels on the door knob. that was such a fabulous hospitality touch, and you can see that in the video. ✔️excellent location, across from the Capitol, around the corner from the Nashville Old Town Trolley stop, and a 10-minute walk to Broadway. ✔️the cleanest, neatest, and most well-stocked breakfast buffet I've seen at a Choice Hotel I would absolutely stay here again.
