The Movie "Super Hybrid" is my new monster car movie. As I am building a Magnum SRT8 clone. The movie is about a creature that has taken the shape of a 78 Chevy Nova, just because it can cruise in broad daylight, and eat people. After an hour and ten minutes of the parking attendants battling the creature, and it turning into everything from a low rider Chevy pickup, to a 71 Super bee, they finally defeat the monster, only to exit the garage, and find the world has been taken over by blood thursty Dodge Magnums.

If you have a carefully trained eye you can spot when they started using 98-02 Rams. They changed out the mirrors for the 94-97 ones, but the interior on the newer ones are distinctive. Also in the episode ‘The Dragonfly’ Walker’s Ram 1500 gets hit by a missile. The truck used for the stunt said ‘Ram 1500’ on the side, but, if you look closely you can see the wheels are 8-lugs instead of 5-lugs. That would indicate a 2500, or 3500 Ram. Maybe they needed a heavier truck for the stunt, or it was a warranty return. Anything is possible.

Number 3 used to be owned by a gentleman from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He purchased it from Barris I believe in the 1980's. I remember reading a newspaper article about it and how it had been a childhood dream to own one. I met him in person in 2001 at a local car meet. He said when purchased, the body was mounted to the chassis with wooden 2X4's, and he had to make numerous modifications to make sure it was safe to Street drive. It was beautifully kept, and drew a bigger crowd than another guy's brand new Lamborghini

The Batmobile #1 was used by Debbie Reynolds in a parade in about 1958. It was flamingo red in color. It was parked in the front lot of Barris Custom City on Riverside Dr. For at least 5 years just taking in the sunshine like any other used car. I was 10 years old then. I personally knew Victor MacLeod, screenwriter for the first batman. If you search for Debbie Reynolds parade, you might see her in it. I am not sure which Los Angeles parade it was. Yes, if you search for her name and Glenn Ford and “Futura” you will see more photos. Yes, try “It started with a kiss” movie. This futura was used in that movie.

3:45 "𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳" Yes the blower is a prop but that's actually the correct way it should be set up. That style of "bug catcher" scoop is designed to act as the throttle for a mechanical injection system such as from Enderle, typically run on supercharged methanol or nitromethane engines. Look at some images of vintage top fuel or funny car engines and you'll see the only difference is those have injection lines(missing from Mike's intake) running to the plate just below the scoop. There are also poser scoops for single and dual quad setups that look the same but they are just for show. The butterflies simply move with the carb linkage or are controlled by vacuum.
@CarStarz426 сағат бұрын
Yeah, it's just that injection on classic muscle car was far less common at the time than it is now, but yes; probably was fuel injected.
@CzechSixTv4 сағат бұрын
@@CarStarz42 My theory is the producer or director said "We want a blower but don't make it so big that it blocks a bunch of camera angles". Someone on the crew building the cars probably thought the easiest way to do that would be going with a blown alcohol look instead of the typical dual carbs and scoop. On the subject of availability, the Enderle system I think the prop might be modeled after has been around since the 50's. I saw quite a few complete used systems with barrel valves and an assortment of nozzle jets at the Englishtown swap meet in the early 90's for less than $900. It would also fit the character of Mike to have pulled one off a wrecked race car in a junk yard. It's where most teenage gearheads got their go fast parts back then, including the 327 short block and aluminum L98 heads that went into my '69 Nova. Even the nomenclature of common blowers(6-71, 8-71, etc) comes from the 2 stroke Detroit diesels they were originally scavenged off of.

BUT, with movie patrons still buzzing, in a dark parking lot, a 61, with cherry bomb exhausts, high beams glaring, was enough to make people jump when I revved my 318... good times

Oh gee, Okay, car number one was the 340 4 speed, converted the the 380 Magnum crate, and later to a 426 hemi. And it wasn't Mopar Action, it was Mopar Performance magazine, and actually it was Dave Ferro, the Editor, ad owner of Totally Auto, in Feasterville PA who installed the 426, and restored the car to hemi car specs. I should have known that as I almost worked there, as my friend Jim Farrell was managing the shop back than. That car still exists, and if I had to guess, I'd say it's owner is probably a fella named John Kent, or Keet, who had a thing for Yellow Cuda's.

Mopar Action ran an article back in the day, and the (I guess second car) had the Magnum 360 380hp crate motor. Figuring that was about 435lbs completely dressed, that was a pretty potent small block in that car.

I noticed in one scene in "Popeye Doyle" there was a approx. 1968 Ford Fairlane, just parked on the street, and it had bondo all over the rear quarters. The Ford plant in Ohio was under water due to a massive flood in 67, and explains why a car under 10 yrs old wound rust so bad.

I always hated this show cuz my grandpa would turn it on and just cuss walker up and down. “There ain’t no way some cowboy is an Indian and knows karate too, and there’s no reason for them to be putttin a black guy on here neither” he claimed that the only reason for the Alex character being on the show was to “just give the teenagers some boobies to stare at”.. he’d never miss an episode but every time it came on all he’d do is sit there and run his mouth on walker hard as crap. I honestly think he’d have jumped through the tv and beat walkers A if he coulda.
