Moving is hard! Y’all are doing great getting back on track so quickly.

Just curious what do you not like about TGTB math? Or their LA? I am a busy mom of six kids and need something to help me not be so overwhelmed and stressed out with homeschooling.

We moved from TN to WI late July. I’m impressed how your kids are already in activities! We started meeting up with a homeschool group immediately but it’s like a casual hang out play date. They didn’t start actual activities until last month over 2 months after we moved. So good on you for getting that ball rolling immediately when y’all moved!

For kindergarten we have been using Math Mammoth. I'm not a real fan of the curriculum, but it's very good for the lower grades. Once he hits 3rd grade we move over to Teaching Textbooks.

How is the cursive program going for your fourth grader? We are currently doing BJU not sure if the script is similar. Looking for an alternative.

I like your plan to work through the unit studies on Fridays. I have the Artists unit as well and have been trying to fit it in so I will try the same!

I work and homeschool as well so I get not being able to join coops.

I didn’t move, but October and November were super busy for us. I feel like we’re in the same boat lol. We barely did school. We aren’t going to do a Christmas study either, only lots of books from the library. I also work, weekends and outside of the home, so we can’t make a lot of the weekend stuff.

It looks so inviting! Your kids will be happy to be in this space.

It could be cute to do a border above the table next to the window for your monthly holiday crafts

We’re almost done with foundations A and the online supplement has been amazing. I usually just have him do it while I make breakfast and rarely teach out of the book sometimes we do the workbook additional but the online has so much more I feel like and it’s more fun for my son since it feels like a game for him. But you totally could just only do online.

We always finished early and we took over a month off for end of Nov /dec every year! You’re gonna be fine because now ur schooling more days too!

The online supplement helps out so much! We use it for our son who is doing foundation A & he really loves it. The songs for doodling dragons is on KZbin & on Spotify. My son listens to the songs on his own now 🤣

I agree with you completely on this. We are in England so trying lots of different curriculum and found a very simple history system they love and that's galore parks history books. It is more of a textbook for schools over here but it is really interesting and the kids love the activity sections.

Thanks for the video. Curious if you have an update a year later? Did you take/purchase and complete the full teacher training in order to properly teach your child? I purchased the IEW curricula, but I haven't had the time yet to complete the Teaching Structure and Style program for myself. Is it possible to effectively use this program with my children, even if I didn't complete the teaching training portion to teach my children well?? Can I just primarily learn right along with my children and still learn to effectively teach them to write well using IEW techniques? Thanks.

We quit using TGATB after about 15 lessons of 2nd Grade Language Arts and Math. You're right, it's very helpful for a parent who's just beginning to homeschool. It's beautiful, engaging, and affordable. For us, it later started to feel cluttered and overwhelming. There's too much going on in the pages that don't really add to how effectively it helps kids learn/remember the lessons. The only things we use from TGATB now are Typing and the books from the TGATB Library that we purchased during their big clearance sale about three years ago.
