Your reaction are not uncommon as people encounter Pink Floyd for the first time. I heard this album when it was released in 1973. Didn't fully understand it, being only 10, I liked Time, Money etc. Over the decades I've always had Pink Floyd in my music library and the more I listen to it, the more I feel it's been a guide to life. So glad you've started the Floyd journey and I promise there's much much more to come. Suggest watching the Pulse live concert from 1995 and Pompeii 1971, followed of course with albums Wish You Were Here, The Wall, Animals, Obscured By Clouds .... It changes you forever 🙃

Pink Floyd - the G.O.A.T You should listen to their other albums, particularly “Wish You Were Here.” They are a fantastic continuation of the trip they took you on to the Dark Side of the Moon. When I was growing up, the Beatles were my favorite band. Then I took an LSD trip and listened to Dark Side of the Moon. I was never the same. It, and all their music, enriched the rest of my life.

The first side of the album Speak to me to great gig in the sky covers life, birth to death. Beginning with your first breath, you aready have begun your journey to death. Starting with money ( Materialism) , Us and them ( have and have nots, class and race struggles) , any color you like is an instrumental, Brain damage ( life drives some people crazy) , Eclipse has lyrics the cover all aspects of life. Well, that's my interpretation of 50 years, and probably 500 times I've listened to this album. In closing, this album stayed on the billboard top 200 for over 20 years with many years at or near the top.
