Great video... I have an 04 Silverado 1500 with the baby 4.8. Most I've hauled is around 8000 lbs or 13,500 Gross Weight. With my empty toy hauler though it's 11,200 Gross. It's definitely lugging and has been needing more grunt for towing. Seeing your load there, if I had to guess the Gross is closer to 20,000 lbs. So if it pulls that well, mine should be great at 13,000... I don't have the gear ratio you do either. 3.42s with 30" tires. So I've got a rageddy 2000 model 2500 with a 6.0 in it. And the plan is to put the Richard Holdener Low Buck Truck cam(similar) in it along with my 706 heads and intake. So very similar to your build, with slightly smaller ports and chambers to help with low end torque even more. Definitely looking forward to it, just for to get the funds right. It just sits most days now since I bought my new Camry Hybrid and get almost 50 MPG. 😂
@JohnnyAnderson14 күн бұрын
@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS camry hybrid is the best, I've towed with a 4.8 and wow... they suck lol. If you can get your hands in a 6.0 and mod it it will be like 2 4.8s lol
@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS4 күн бұрын
@JohnnyAnderson1 yeah, it does. Don't get me wrong, it'll still tug it, but it feels like when I drove an 18 wheeler... Except without the stability of the BIG TRUCK. That's one other thing I want to fix. The swaying above 60 is sketchy. Lol

@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS yea that's a big trailer for a 1/2 ton truck haha, I pulled one similar with a suburban and having the weight distribution hitch made a world's of difference.

Funniest thing to me is that people will diss ford for making aluminum beds, but half them don't realize chevy made plastic ones and thought it was a good idea 😂
@mikeydabbs10 күн бұрын
You mean fiber glass right ..? I mean for the most part they held up this long , plus fords aluminum rust straight from the factory
@c4or2ey010 күн бұрын
@mikeydabbs lmfao riiiiiigght. I've had one of them trucks and it was plastic 100%. Maybe replacement panels were fiberglass but oem was plastic. Aaaaaaand no 🤣 mines perfectly fine. No rust. Not even on the frame and I live in a snow state. My neighbors chevy truck is 6 years newer and the frame is near rusted away 🤣🤣🤣✌️
@marvelous_13729 күн бұрын
Step side beds have been fiberglass including the ones ford made on their old body style. Lol
@c4or2ey09 күн бұрын
@marvelous_1372 so that's why my obs 93 flair side f150 was metal? And my 98 ford ranger flair side also was metal? Or was i just tripping and magnets just happened to stick to "fiberglass" even though it wasn't fiber glass. Chevy 100% made them plastic! It was a plastic composite and they did it in the early 2000's. 🤣🤣 now hush cuz you don't know what your talking about. Go do yourself some research bud. My uncle even had one of these. It WAS NOT fiberglass.
@marvelous_13728 күн бұрын
@@c4or2ey0 The beds are a composite. The sides that bolt on to the bed are fiberglass. The box itself is metal.

@@jeffholt8138 they just don't lift lol
@jeffholt813820 күн бұрын
@ no there problem is they do lift once there already out of shape. That’s there problem the gear acts as an engine brake and basically locks the rears up. If they got a stick car they need to depress the clutch, if auto they need to peddle it a bit but can’t just completely dump out of the gas. It’s like hitting the brakes in the snow just gonna make it worse
@JohnnyAnderson120 күн бұрын
@@jeffholt8138 This guy clearly didn't let off soon enough and had WAY to much wheel speed, and letting off does not lock the rear wheels up. I agree you should defiantly modulate the throttle though.
