priDE MONth is the celebration of Free Will. Free Will is often wrong, but that's what God wanted. If he wanted robots, he can make them obey all commands. If he wanted just animals following instincts, he could have stopped at Jellyfish. Lovely glowing critters & without sin... So Christian families can celebrate the AWSOME POWER of Hetero reproduction ! Be proud of all your children, mothers fathers and brothers and sisters ! Thak god for reproduction , because without it, species would have only lasted 1 generation.

Thank you for this conversation. I'm discerning different grad programs, and many Catholic universities celebrate Pride Month. Thoughts?

@Godsplaining please make videos about how to have perfect contrition (specifically at the time of death) so that those of us who die without the Last Rites will know how to enter Heaven.

Not quite on topic, but I'd be interested to hear your views on "The Bishop of Rome: A Study Document of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity", which was released a couple of days ago. Especially in that the brilliantly concise presentation (about 90 minutes) was made at your own Angelicum in Rome. kzbin.info/www/bejne/al7EnKeErcShlZY That's the link, if you haven't had time to see it, yet. A couple of brilliant Dominican - and other - scholars. IMHO this is probably the most revolutionary proposal for the reconciliation of Christian churches since East-West Schism. King Charles III's personal chaplain (of all people!!) made one of the most theologically creative presentations I've ever seen.

I can't help but think this document is especially apt for right now when there are so many saying there isn't a truth. There is only an individuals idea or perception of truth. You want or should have been a different genre there fore you are that genre. The accident you witnessed didn't happen like that. It is just your perception. There isn't a God. It is only your perception telling you there is. The list goes on to the point you are brainwashed into thinking truth doesn't really exist at all. It is all over, government, education, medicine, the news & our social interactions. Reason demands that there is truth and that it needs to be known.

Quite possibly the first time this comedian has been quoted in Godsplaining; "Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, you must fear or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe, say, or do." ~ Dave Chappelle

At the present time, under this papacy, revelation is denied as is Tradition. New doctrines like "synodality" are replacing them.

I have found that explaining things (or sending Bishop Barron videos) about reason and faith, (like the argument of rational reality for God's existence; or the real relationship between science and Catholicism) to be an effective way of evangelization for friends and family.

Is there a video or book or resource on how your Dominican province was shaped into such a powerful force of evangelization and a beautiful radiant healthy community for Christ? Was it always like this or was there a period of reform? It seems to stand out compared to other Dominican provinces and I would like to know the cause.

Unfortunately here in England our major supermarkets support 'pride month' one of them in a very big way. For this reason I try this month to get my shopping from smaller independent shops or from the German chain Lidl [which does not seem to do so]. I as a Christian, like to support Christian causes and do not want to give one bean to LGBT causes if I can help it.

22:45 Yes, yes, yes! The transformation of anger into hatred is a significant issue. When anger is expressed as hate, whether in public spaces or from the pulpit, it closes off any opportunity for the consideration of the Truth. This kind of expression fosters a preference for relativism, and in some ways, we have inadvertently contributed to the promotion of relativism by engaging with others through our own egos and unholy righteousness. We must remember that the Truth is grounded in love and should lead people to God, not push them further away. Just as Jesus invited conversion through love, it is our responsibility to do the same. We should strive to be examples of charity in what we say about the Truth and in how we express the Truth so it is not mistaken as hatred. Instead express Truth with charity, compassion, and understanding, as Christ does for all of us. Begin with love, then the Truth will win out.

I've always been a night owl but have also been trying to shift that to earlier nights and mornings in the past few years because I love that feeling of being able to do a lot of things after waking up and there still being a couple hours before lunch. I also love the sun and light so the more I benefit from that when waking up, the better. And being eastern orthodox you think and talk a lot about life in the ancient world and I've started wanting to get closer to that so I can suffer less of the modern ailments. Specially since the lockdowns I've had a lot of trouble waking up and being completely lucid and clearheaded, being out in the world and not feeling overwhelmed etc, and it seems to me like coming closer to the natural cycles and habits of creation will obviously help with that, along with attentive prayer before and after nighttime sleep. So I've been shifting my night schedule, turning off screens a couple hours before bedtime, switching to warmer, dimmer bulbs, praying solely with candles and trying (trying!) to get out of my house as early as possible and not extend my mornings seeing what other food I can add to my breakfast - or what else I can waste my time with online. We need real, God-created light, not the artificial human-made ones, to give us true life!

Respectfully sir, I have not read your book, but would like to understand the backgrounds of the interviewees. My family likes to listen to this podcast, so I listen to have conversations about the topics. I am not a troll. I am searching for truth in Catholicism (not Chrisitanity) and my and my family’s souls are at stake.. My whole life I blamed church leadership (near Phila diocese, btw), but it was my poor decision making ultimately that has led me to become a wretched sinner. And, you’re correct; it IS about personal accountability and self-correction. So here’s where I get bucketed into the “angry male” category. You’re stating that “women are smarter, no surprise…” and asking your wife to tell you “what is your worst sin” is a human interpretation of your experience, not what Christ would teach us.. I’m sure your Christian (ex-Catholic friend) is a person of good will, however, I’d like to know why he left the church? I think more men should be interviewed for books like yours. I will try to read the book and maybe it’ll make sense to me. God bless

Chaput wasn't made a cardinal by Benedict; and he wasn't made a cardinal by Francis, either. Of course, after his resignation he then had the "courage" to call Francis a liar. Just another Christian Nationalist we are better off without. And as far as your very American "anger issues" are concerned, here's something attributed to St Augustine, which he never actually said: "Hope has two beautiful daughters; their names are Anger and Courage. Anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain as they are." "There's no real evidence that Augustine ever wrote these words. But their content is clearly true and worth remembering as a guide to Christian discipleship." (Charles J. Chaput, "Strangers in a Strange Land", p. 162). 😊

My wife asked me what I wanted to do when I retired. I told her I wanted to go to daily Mass. So I strarted. How about being asked to do a weekly Communion Service for Catholic folks in a Memory Care unit (AKA Alzheimer's)? Or on Sunday, after Mass, an hour or two singing hymns and patriotic songs? I started with my Dad, and the volunteer program has expanded to the unit ( up to 38 residents) and another facility or 2. At this time, that's what the Lord is calling me to do. I don't see well, but I know about 400 tunes and can lead the singing. The tunes are mostly old hymns and songs. And they like the Hillbilly Thomists tunes. Stay tuned.

22:00 wrt to our Angry culture (& i 100% agree with what's being said), recently i learned that even a 'dislike' (thumbs-down) click on YT content *grants the content algorithmic positive attention*. So if one is trying to indicate 'I Don't Like This and Don't Want to See It Again' by a dislike action... you are actually telling a system, 'This Is AttentionGrabbing!!' and it'll use this ranking for its own dopamine-riddled mind games in us. We can see how a paradigm of THUMBS has been leading us astray, with inverted counter-intuition, ...into an angered stasis. It's turned us into powder kegs, and for really No Good Reason. ...oh gosh, it sounds like i'm about to order ANOTHER book soon 😅
