East of Eden official has announced that their new single “Shooting Star” will be released on January 15th from Warner music Japan. They changed their label from Victor to Warner, which is probably related to the fact that MINA has the contract with Universal music as a solo artist and will keep it. They also changed the composer for the new song, MEGMETAL and Hayato Yamamoto joined this time. MINA definitely can reproduce the Wakazaemon’s playing for the existing songs, but might add her funky taste to the new song. EOE would probably plan to have a big change for their new period.

In my opinion, Waka is an irreplaceable mutant on bass, but if the band thinks that Mina (who I don't consider very versatile or musical) can replace her, there's no one better than them to decide. For my part, i hope that the style and musical approach remain intact... EOE is a great band.

Honestly, for me a good guitarist is a musician, who can generate well fitting, melodic and highly musical performances. In this view this extreme high speed playing is counterproductive. It bores pretty quickly and after the initial surprise is gone, it becomes mostly uninteresting ....

Mina is a great choice, she is skilled and have media presence, EoE won't lose out by taking her. As for Kawaiiaemon, i think she is fitting more into heavier stuff. KOIAI is a promising band, consisting of super skilled members and Marty is kinda a metal superstar, so i can understand her wish to tour with him. Also i've heard that EoE were restricting her by not allowing to join any other bands officially, it was mentioned that it's the reason why she didn't join KOIAI officially, not sure if it's true or not. Anyway, good luck to both of them!

On May 24th, 2016 Miho announced she would be starting an all female heavy metal band with Haruna Ishikawa. That band became Lovebites. Midori and Miyako joined during the summer of 2016, not 2015...

Oh Wow! Mina is great, and hasn't been in a band for a while. However I really have no idea how she'll fit into EoE, it'll be really interesting to see how she and they change (or not), I'd confess I don't know EoE very well at all, I'll certainly pay more attention now! Mina's comments are typically modest, she was fantastic in Girlfriend.

man what a shift, Waka has things going on for her, and for Mina, happy for her too! been a fan sing her band "Girlfriend" days and when i bought their records back in like 2019 directly in Japan... they disbanded shortly after T_T

"Backing voca;s" is a term that never really describes it, re Miku. It seems her vocals can provide a platform, a foundation, ...but then a decoration,or a contrast or context... ,the sauce.the pepper...her voice can comtribute in all these ways ! Saiki-plus-Miku is a complex instrument itself ! But if one facet most stands out,to me, it's her deep and intriguing intelligence--always it is so charming when the camera happens to catch her looking to the far distance...it makes you want to know her thoughts...............

I have watched with eager anticipation, Mina's forays into her solo and collab projects since the (to me, the very saddd) wrapping up of the band Girlfriend. As I commented before, I have been a huge fan of Mina since then and wanted so much to see her achieve great things..and she has never ever disappointed!❤ this new opportunity for Mina has me overjoyed!!😊 I just can't wait to enjoy seeing Mina strut her stuff with the super talented East of Eden...soo soo cool!!! 🌟

I can't understand why some people are so excited about. It sucks when a member leaves a band. But some people see artists as disposable. "Ah, she left? Doesn't matter. Find a substitute". Despite that, i wish success to both of them.

There's nothing anybody can do about a member leaving a band. Why dwell on it? People are happy that a talented musician is joining the band.
@SomethingToDo3603 күн бұрын
A possible reason for Wakazaemon leaving (I thought of this in one of the threads, but I wanted to share it here): When I went to check out East of Eden (after I heard Mina joined), I noticed the band generally has a stronger focus than some other bands on making the members appear as attractive as possible (for pictures, KZbin shorts, etc), while their music videos seem more about appearance as well (in the way they are being edited), which comes across as members being micromanaged by a company. If this is correct, maybe there was an issue with management? An indication that a company is behind things (by directing everyone), could explain how conflicts can start, while Wakazaemon seems like a free spirit (understatement), one who wouldn’t want a company controlling her to this high extent. But I suppose the positive side is that a wealthy company could also offer someone good (like Mina) a lot of money to join them. The company may have also been paying for KZbin advertising for EOE as well, given the strong discrepancy between higher KZbin views, and the much lower than expected views from music streaming services. Just some thoughts I had. 🤷♂️

It will be interesting to see how she fits in the band. Her and Wakazeamon have two distinctive styles of playing. I wonder how much of a change it will have on EOE.

I knew Mina was feeling like creating in a band again, I could tell over the last year that she was acting differently. She is a fantastic bass player, and probably a good fit for this J-pop band. Waka should definitely sign on with Lisa X because that band has potential on the world stage where East doesn't have any.

This is more proof that the talent pool of Japanese musicians is bottomless. When you look at recent replacements (Fami at Lovebites, several changes at Bridear, Junna and Nagi at Hagane, and now Mina) it is just mind-blowing. In none of these cases did the band take a step backward.
