I like how columbo uses the headlights as a decoy here. He already knows that the headlights aren't actually necessary to make his point. He just wants to see how he reacts to it.

Colombo ran for what, 10 years? And in all that time he never had a more normal sort of case. You know, something like a drug deal gone wrong.

A clever character to appear clueless or mislead which lowers the guard of the suspects. In real life, never speak to the police without having your lawyer present.

A) Peter Falk was unbelievably good as Columbo B) This was an age of innocence in the USA. We thought the IRA was the primary source of terrorism in the world.

He was acting blind when he came in, walking stiffly, seeming to feel with his feet, waiting for the other guy to walk as if he was trying to hear the foot steps for a safe path. That's why I thought he was blind. Columbo's gotcha moments were rarely real gotchas.

Columbo said the speedometer shows 9 more miles on it, not the odometer. I wonder if it was written that way in the script or if he just made a mistake with his line and no one caught it.

That look from Columbo at the end. That's when you know for sure that Columbo knows he's the killer. Every time I watch Columbo I'm always looking for that first moment when he knows who the killer is.

The fake eye adds a lot to Falk's performance. One piece of him is never following you. Always in its theories.

Is it even possible to prosecute someone base on the premise that they able pick up a correct camera without having to check them first? The accused could have easily claim he randomly pick one out of frustation and it happen to be the correct one and that's all. Then it would just be his word against columbo, plus the so called three witnesses columbo had are also conveniently either his co-worker or work in the same place as him so it would just be their version of story they think the guy did and nothing else substantial at all.

I like how Columbo deliberately made multiple copies of a letter, even giving Wilson one to flash too. Columbo has too much fun with some of his culprits.

In the final scene Columbo will give Ned a full explanation of the killer's medical situation before moving to arrest. Why do that? This earlier scene confirms for me that he wanted Ned to confess. 'If she means anything to you, you ought to be there.'
