I have only read maybe a dozen, and agree with a lot of the tier rankings, except for The Shinning. IDK why, it just did nothing for me. Long walk and The Institute , were amazing. Needful Things and IT were great for about the first 80-90%, then they got, eh

That’s absolutely understandable. We all have a different take on King and his work but I am glad you enjoyed my list and I am actually doing a whole reread of all his work and I’m excited to embark on another long and incredible journey!

I don’t know why people think being recorded is an indictment on her talent. It is her singing live OVER the recording so it matches the sync, which she sang in ONE take one the same day she heard the arrangement, because the Super Bowl is ALWAYS recorded. You being able to hear her and the orchestra is proof positive on top of the documentary of her producer sharing how he changed the arrangement and recorded with Whitney. Come on, people. Google is free.😂😂😂

Whitney is the only one who should ever sing the Star Spangled Banner. Gave me chills. Nobody can equal her. Ever. So sad she’s gone. I’ve heard opera singers sing this & they can’t compare. Whitney is. Vocally perfect & sang it with unequalled passion.

I was engrossed in this novel...started it on Sunday and finished it on Thursday (spent more than a few hours reading the e-book version on my work PC as a PDF in dual page view (which replicates having a hardcover edition pretty nicely once you get into it!!!)... I think the story had room to be even longer and it would not have felt bloated to me...very highly recommended and yes, if you love 'The Stand' you're going to enjoy this as well. I am 4.75 out of 5 stars on this one, if you have not read it, do yourself a favor, grab a copy and enjoy!

I got that and their previous albums, Violence and An Audio Guide to Everyday Atrocities, on a friend's recommendation. And they became a staple of my music collection to this day. Not to be that guy but she has around 5 and a half octaves, she can’t physically sing in the “0th” octave because no one can. Its not a part of human range. And if you do the math, 2nd octave to 7th octave is 5 octaves, singing in the seventh octave doesn’t mean someone has a 7 octave vocal range
@lizapie
@lizapie 3 ай бұрын
@ravdog5265 true. It might not be exactly 7, but damn near close. Her lower range is very underrated. I love hearing her lows... the lows probably give me more goosebumps than the highs

@@lizapie I forgot she hit an F#8 trying to mimic dolphins cuz she was swimming with them, that was in 2019 I think, so she has exactly six octaves if it’s all connected. I love her lows too, I’m pretty sure she has gone lower than a D3 every tour during the 90s, and in many other performances. I feel like her lows in her album songs in the 2000s were the best, while the live lows were super unsupported and weak, but in the 2010s she gave us lots of 2nd octave lows which is not human I swear🥲

There's no denying that she's an extremely accomplished vocalist, except that she spawned an entire generation of wannabe singers who tried unsuccessfully to emulate her singing style. I remember back in the 90's during a Christmas programme, a lady with actually quite a good singing voice was trying too hard to sing like Mariah. She would belt and suddenly end the last words of the lines in the verses in a whisper, moving her fingers dramatically as she did so, and I remember all us kids going red in the face, trying to supress our laughter.
