If a cop would simply park in the Midwest Middle school parking lot, set just back a little from the road, THEY WOULD CATCH PEOPLE SPEEDING LITERALLY ALL DAY LONG... People FLY down Reno literally ALL DAY. I am not talking 5 or 10mph over, I am talking 30, 40, 50MPH over the posted speed limit of 35... criminal speeding all day long, every 15 minutes a new criminal speeding ticket. It is embarrassing considering we talking about between Key Blvd. and the POLICE STATION....

I worked with Matt on the Midwest City Hospital Ambulance Service in the early 1980s. When I met him, I had recently been assigned to Tinker AFB, I was all alone, and he had me over to his house on Christmas. Looks like Matt made good.

Councilwoman Eads should leave bas d upon the fact she believes she gets to decide how the public gets to communicate with the Council. There was only one person on the Council that stood up for that Veterans right to speak. The rest of you should be disgusted. I can't wait to reach out to the V.A. and let them know how Midwest City Council treats it's veterans. Disgusting.

If you want that to be the case then they shouldn't have given an hour and a half to CJ AC to present their dog and pony show that was full of Lies. Because when he was questioning on them he couldn't even support that that was an action taken or a program created by CJ AC. Did you miss that part?

Sarah said nothing disrespectful. But she did come armed with an awful lot of facts that apparently people of Midwest City didn't notice or didn't pay attention to. I wish I had known that this lynching was going to take place because I would have shown up again as a Midwest City resident to explain to you the sadly appoints that none of you seem to have grasped. It's very frustrating watching this and I can't believe that this is being allowed in the council chambers because this is nothing more than a public lynching

And the people that I talk to in my own Community, even this neighborhood are glad that Midwest City cut ties with the Oklahoma County Jail which seems to be a point that's not important to Midwest City residence According to some of these speakers. It's kind of like throwing the baby out with the bathwater isn't it

Just an observation but this lady is saying yes keep giving them our money to kill prisoners and to fill a prison with bed bugs. I don't know in this day and age how you do corrective action on any government entity that has basically been put into private interest hands such as the Oklahoma County Jail without speaking with your wallet. How long was that CJ AC contract? For the money we paid them for what 5 years exactly what impact did we have? Because this jail is out of control and dangerous. I can't imagine what it would be like to have committed a minor offense and be put in that hell hole. And to think my city was funding that is something I was not okay with which is why I showed up. I'm not a crazy activist, but I am a passionate citizen who wants the best for our city and our citizens. I have no skin in the game making a deal Beyond doing what is right even when it's hard and I find it disturbing to see so many people not being okay with that
@lindawade4ok639
@lindawade4ok639 Жыл бұрын
My understanding is MWC had already made a decision to not renew the contract til her husband put it back on the agenda at the bequest of people, powerful people, who don't live in this city. So let's get all the facts out there

Personally I find that this council meeting looks like an orchestrated lynching. And I heard that from two people who spoke use that term and I did give them a piece of my mind during and afterwards because I think that's a bridge too far to say that. But people do what they do. That does not in any way negate the very real action that need to be taken on a Fluff contract that provided nothing. Let's get down to the bottom line even the cops in attendance could not stay what CJAC had ever provided to our police force and jail that they didn't get from some non-profit. We already have the best jail in the county, I don't think we need to cough up $100,000 over 10 years and it would probably have been more, for nada. Let's not keep forgetting the Salient point of why that controversy arose
@lindawade4ok639
@lindawade4ok639 Жыл бұрын
Exactly what political statement did she make? It was in regards to a contract with an agency that really has given zero value for the entire time Midwest City has been paying them. All government is political. Activism simply points out things that government might be doing that is disagreed with. To get upset over this means that you must prefer that anyone who disagrees with the government stay silent. Just because another group of citizens who live here, including me, might want to express that they are in opposition to a policy or procedure or contract that our city government has been making, doesn't make me a rebel. It makes me a citizen one that has as much right to speak out against the policy as much as one I might be for. I am reminded a couple of decades back when the city council kept insisting it would put a sidewalk down a creek behind people's houses. It took three times showing up in front of the council who by the way really we're not advertising what they were doing we were just fortunate enough to find out so that all the citizens in my neighborhood could go down to the council meeting and say we don't want you to do this. Of course the city was focusing on golly there must have been grant money, and neighborhood city councilman kept putting it back on the agenda after we showed up and got the council to vote no. That too is citizen activism. When you start complaining about citizen activism for real issues in your community, then I would say you are just a tad too entrenched in the status quo even when it doesn't work. This whole overblown thing looks orchestrated to me about Sara, she actually did her job and one of the majority of the council vote by presenting them the actual facts about a contract that they were just signing like robots. Because once the rest of the council knew it with the exception of the mayor and the vice mayor, the council understood we were throwing good money after nothing which was the whole point. I can't believe people are berating a council member for actually engaging in making City policy better LOL the good old boys did not like the decision the Council made and they're going to bring it up over and over again because it's a game to them

While I absolutely agree with your statement regarding the importance of citizens advocating for themselves, I believe that you are missing the point that the vast majority, if not all of the members of the Council for Social Justice Reform were certainly not from Midwest City. They were from Oklahoma City and The Village. So, while OKC’s and The Village’s opinions were CERTAINLY heard last month, the ACTUAL Midwest City constituents who are supposed to be able to advocate for themselves and what they AS CITIZENS OF THE CITY believe is the best course of action were silenced. In my opinion, the Council for Social Justice Reform should have convened privately with the council to explain their stance on the issue and try to sway the council without creating a media circus and silencing the residents who actually NEED to be heard.
@revolutionaryerror6416
@revolutionaryerror6416 Жыл бұрын
Actually, I choose to amend my previous statement. Since the majority if not all of the people who spoke from Oklahoma City or The Village were part of the same Council for Social Justice Reform, it is neither entirely fair nor accurate to say that what they said is a fair and accurate representation of either city’s stance on the issue of CJAC. So, it is actually more fair to say that the Council for Social Justice Reform effectively silenced the Midwest City populace last month regarding the CJAC issue.

@@revolutionaryerror6416 in my opinion that is not the Salient point. Whether or not they were the ones who spoke let's not forget that the cjac president who is not from Midwest City put on a dog and pony show for almost 2 hours. Upon questioning of the materials that he provided particularly by Susan Eads, it was clear that it was all smoke and mirrors. This was put on the agenda by the vice mayor although it is my understanding the city manager was saying let's not renew this, it does nothing for us. You have two people the mayor and the vice mayor who apparently think the city ought to spend money for nothing so who benefits because it isn't our Police Department or jail or our citizens. Because of the facts that those people that you consider Outsiders brought to the table along with Sarah who also had endless official documentation of the truth, five council members said no we should not be doing business with the Oklahoma County Jail. All they did was bring the actual facts about what's been going on for the past 2 years. And from the standpoint that our city before that vote was helping prop up the most dangerous jail in America, and paying money to a supposed advisor who in 2 years has not been able to solve the bed bug infestation nor have they ever been able to pass a health department inspection. Do we really want to pay them to advise Midwest City Jail? Isn't that the Salient point instead of I didn't like how some people talked. I admit I get uncomfortable as well when things get to personal but I have watched the mayor and the vice mayor now for two meetings conduct public lynchings of Sarah because she's not doing what they want. It needs to stop. And there were far more people than the people from the people's counsel there wanting our city to end their relationship with the Oklahoma County Jail and stop paying CJ AC for nothing. I questioned during the September meeting the police chief and the officers who are standing there and I said tell me one thing that CJac does for you... I'm going to tell you they could not articulate one thing as a matter of fact they looked embarrassed to even be speaking about it. It's a good thing we have gotten out of the Oklahoma County Jail and we need to move forward. Why would this keep being brought up by the mayor and the vice mayor if it isn't a public lynching of someone who brought a real issue to the fore. And the other thing you need to understand is that they don't really want to dialogue because every one of these were announced ambushes. I don't like seeing it going on because what is it accomplishing because the council five out of seven made the right decision about a very bad place called the Oklahoma County Jail

Ummm...people were wearing flag garments in the 60s and 70s and 80s and 90s and 2000s Sarah has only brought her expertise to the council which they sorely needed. So that they could grasp a true understanding of the situations they are in in some of their contracts and dealings. Bringing your experience to the table as a council person, that's important to moving forward so I for one of them thankful to see her there as an honest broker in our government

I had to hand over my speaking and I've only been here since I was 6 years old young lady, to Connie Johnson because somehow her sign up was never found. So there were plenty of Midwest City residents there not all of them signed up to speak but I was certainly one of them, but as I said I handed my speaking spot over to Connie because after all she was a state senator and she's one smart cookie and it would be important for the council to hear from her
