Which corners are you braking on? I'm reaching 45s but still struggle with traction out of the hairpin and the right hander that follows. I don't brake at all but instead lift off for a fraction of a second for those two corners and a few more. Is that why I'm not getting the most out of the corner entry and exits?
@squadragt62252 жыл бұрын
The whole layout has changed now. My quickest time now is 41.223 (according to my RaceFacer account) 2 biggest things to get sub 49 seconds. Unfortunately these are out of your control. 1. They spray the liquid grip down 2. They give your kart 100% power ----------- To answer your question though, I went last night with no liquid grip and I presume only 80% power and I was only doing 48s. I noticed that although I could lift off and the kart would slow down/get lift off oversteer, I tended to find that slower. I started hitting the brake on all the corners I would previously get lift off at and I found the kart didn’t get lift off oversteer anymore so I had way more traction when accelerating out of the corner. Overall, I am at a stage where I am trying to workout what extra things I can do to pick up pace. Even I am unsure exactly where to brake. But trial and error is your best bet
@Beechaii22 жыл бұрын
@@squadragt6225 I just went tonight on the last two sessions available. Conditions were very slippery but I think they gave me 100% power because I finally broke into the 44s with a 44.7 . I was still lifting into the hairpin and turn 13 but I was able to straight up the steering wheel into the apexes with reduced oversteer. Did a lap where I tried braking there instead but because i don't record my laps I can't tell if I benefited from that.
@Beechaii22 жыл бұрын
@@squadragt6225 Turn 2 and 3 is also proving very tricky because of the speed coming into T2 I find it impossible to not slide on the entry. And the karts are not liking going flat out through T3 because it's very slippery, a lot of micro-corrections required on the steering wheel. Sector 2 the kart was just bumping up and down like the porpoising of the current F1 cars, very uncomfortable.

@@Beechaii2 if you download the Racefacer app on your phone and search your time, you can pull up the history of all your past sessions. They have a laptimes for each lap. So if you recorded yourself driving, you can sync it up to see if it help. Its a bit clunky but it helps.

@@Beechaii2 Honestly, turn 2 is my nemesis. I have tried so many entries in there and I still haven't ever done it in a way that felt right. I went last night and i think they have ran out of the liquid grip they usually spray on the circuit for expert sessions. The owner's brother who is in the top 5 all time lap times was in my session and he was only doing 47's. Once they get the liquid grip back, I'd be keen to see how quick you can get your times down.

I've never been karting before, but I've always dreamt of building a track car (spent a small fortune on a VR racing sim setup because I can't afford to do the real thing). I had an absolute ball here. First time I did a super average 53sec, second time once I figured out the handling dynamics I managed to get down to low 46secs. Hoping next time I can crack 44secs. There's a few corners where I know I was coming in too hot and losing some time. Can't wait to go back again :D

You dont need to unplug the recirc valve to get flutter, all you have to do is remove the pipe as shown in step1, then instead of putting on a filter simply block it off with a 25mm plug, it also wont throw a hissy fit with the check engine light, as the recirc valve is still operating just when open air is blocked still. 🙂

What's the difference between the expert and standard kart options. When did you use boost? and Did you use your own helmet?
@squadragt62252 жыл бұрын
I haven’t been in a few months so I’m not too familiar with the kart difference yet. I use boost @ 00:29 (not sure if that’s optimal), I chose that location because I found boost didn’t increase acceleration. All it did was increase the top speed imo. And yes, brought my own helmet. But they do have ones you can borrow

My fastest I believe is between high 43 and low 44, I could have got a faster but it was a couple hours after the track had been sprayed. I went back a couple days later and I think in the first race I beat my time but the races after that I had to switch carts and of course the one I got had a broken seat and every corner I would shift forward, I tried to tell the guy at the pits but he told me to keep going for another race 👍🏼

why not just get a blow off valve lol this seems sketchy as hell
@squadragt62252 жыл бұрын
Presuming you’re talking about an Abarth. An aftermarket blow off valve is not significantly different to the stock mechanism that come with the car. All that is being done is disconnecting the hose that recirculates the air. How is pulling one hose off all of a sudden going to impact the integrity of the stock blow off valve?
@jlaa22763 жыл бұрын
Nice, any big tips? I'm going to give it a try
@squadragt62253 жыл бұрын
I’ll make them generic to any track which imo will be more useful. Stage 1 (First Visit on Track): 1. “Go slow to go fast.” = Go slow to learn the track and once you know it like the back of your hand, only then should you be pushing for hard laps. E.g. my first time here I was averaging 50’s. 2. Always Brake in a straight line 3. Sliding = Slow 4. Follow a similar racing line to what I have done Stage 2 (only once you reach Sub 45’s) 1. Practice Braking Later 2. Push the limits of the racing line (don’t be afraid to bump the barrier & expect your lap time to go backwards as you do this.) Stage 3 (Only once you average in the 43’s) 1. Focus on your steering. Are you over turning the steering wheel? 2. Brake/Accelerator. Can you brake later and accelerate earlier? 3. Watch KZbin videos about improving your karting fundamentals --------- Review footage after each session. Let me know if you have any questions!

So this won’t cause any damage? It’ll simply just pressurise the space between the turbo and throttle body and just force the air out? If it’s all ok I was also going to ask did you notice any hesitation in the turbo or any loss in performance after this? Also did you map your car before or after? Thanks!
@squadragt62252 жыл бұрын
TL;DR: like anything, it has potential to cause damage. But no, is most cases it won’t cause any damage or any issues Disconnecting the stock ‘blow of valve’ mechanism and causing the turbo to flutter won’t break a turbo over night. E.g. of a turbo is meant to last 200,000km, it maybe takes 10,000kmh off its life. Keeping a dirty filter on the car/no filter would have far more significant impact on the car. If it was really such a big issue, rally cars and other race cars in the 80/90s and 2000’s wouldn’t of simply just let it flutter. As far as the research has shown from when i looked into it, they only reason they install these recirculation ‘blow off valves’ is due to noise pollution legislation in many countries.

Where would that first hose be on an American abarth
@squadragt62252 жыл бұрын
not too familiar with the American abarth’s as they run the Multiair motor and not a TJET. From my memory, the multiair uses a Diverter Valve instead of a Blow Off Valve. Honestly, I have no idea of the exact difference between the two though. May be best to look at a local forum

@squadragt62254 жыл бұрын
Typically does it goes away by itself over time once you plug it back in. if you want to speed up the process, simply disconnect your battery for 5 min, let it sit, connect it back up then turn on the car and let it idle for 5 minutes. This will reset the Ecu and remove the code.

1. Did I use an aftermarket BOV or Wastegate? No 2. Do I think it is bad? Short answer is Yes. Long answer is Yes, BUT you will only notice problems from it from 100,000kms on the ODO. If flutter was such an issue, race cars would not run it. Here in Australia, the reason why it is not common on street cars is purely due to the government viewing the 'STUTUTU' sound as noise pollution. Essentially, it is unsafe but it is extremely minimal.
