For Everyday use I recommend have the solenoid connected to power. So that it is just running the BOV. I have found the turbo to be laggy when driving hard with the flutter option.

You dont need to unplug the recirc valve to get flutter, all you have to do is remove the pipe as shown in step1, then instead of putting on a filter simply block it off with a 25mm plug, it also wont throw a hissy fit with the check engine light, as the recirc valve is still operating just when open air is blocked still. 🙂

What does disconnecting the solenoid achieve??
@calumward11922 жыл бұрын
So this won’t cause any damage? It’ll simply just pressurise the space between the turbo and throttle body and just force the air out? If it’s all ok I was also going to ask did you notice any hesitation in the turbo or any loss in performance after this? Also did you map your car before or after? Thanks!
@squadragt62252 жыл бұрын
TL;DR: like anything, it has potential to cause damage. But no, is most cases it won’t cause any damage or any issues Disconnecting the stock ‘blow of valve’ mechanism and causing the turbo to flutter won’t break a turbo over night. E.g. of a turbo is meant to last 200,000km, it maybe takes 10,000kmh off its life. Keeping a dirty filter on the car/no filter would have far more significant impact on the car. If it was really such a big issue, rally cars and other race cars in the 80/90s and 2000’s wouldn’t of simply just let it flutter. As far as the research has shown from when i looked into it, they only reason they install these recirculation ‘blow off valves’ is due to noise pollution legislation in many countries.

Where would that first hose be on an American abarth
@squadragt62252 жыл бұрын
not too familiar with the American abarth’s as they run the Multiair motor and not a TJET. From my memory, the multiair uses a Diverter Valve instead of a Blow Off Valve. Honestly, I have no idea of the exact difference between the two though. May be best to look at a local forum

Why do you unplug the connector I’m sorry I didn’t understand if someone can help me
@squadragt62252 жыл бұрын
It stops the stock ‘blow off valve’ from releasing the pressure. So instead that pressure has to go back through the turbo, causing the flutter / ‘STUTUTU’ sound

Will the check engine light turn of if i plug it in again?
@squadragt62254 жыл бұрын
Typically does it goes away by itself over time once you plug it back in. if you want to speed up the process, simply disconnect your battery for 5 min, let it sit, connect it back up then turn on the car and let it idle for 5 minutes. This will reset the Ecu and remove the code.

why not just get a blow off valve lol this seems sketchy as hell
@squadragt62252 жыл бұрын
Presuming you’re talking about an Abarth. An aftermarket blow off valve is not significantly different to the stock mechanism that come with the car. All that is being done is disconnecting the hose that recirculates the air. How is pulling one hose off all of a sudden going to impact the integrity of the stock blow off valve?
