She is manipulating him, obviously, but the best lies have a little bit of true. I believe her when she said she perform an act to protect herself because she knows she has too. She probably was not the first and like we she in the movie at the end, she is not going to be the last to be the way she is. She probably learned soon that in order to survive she has to be on top and to not lose that position, that mean doing anything. Like look at Cady, when she realize she is the new Queen Bee she follows the example of what a Plastic would d, like throwing a party, she technically could change the rules of what is cool but not right now. Regina was able to wear holes on her shirt and make it a new trend but that was because she already had years of being at the top if she did that at the beginning when she was new, she would have been humiliated. So there are a set of rules you have to follow to be popular. So yeah I believe her but I also know she is using it to guilttrip him and make him feel bad.
