Nice job. My local shoe repair offers a glue on commando style topy half sole. I've had it done twice to a pair of boots that came with xtralite soles that wore ridiculously fast.

These look like RMW craftsman’s to me.. the Gardener had a rounded toe. Either way.. absolutely fantastic job restoring them.. they look great!

Were the original footbeds made of leather?

Yes. But they had been over worn (worn to often and to long hours, not letting them dry enough between uses). Leather cracks and hardens when worn like that.

@davidsonsshoerepair It might work to use a microfiber sockliner to allow a leather footbed to dry more quickly 📝👨🏿🏫

This is the best resole I've seen so far. Cristy's are indeed terrible for winter time and wears really quick. And yes, they look great when worn, but they lose all traction. Then standard commando like soles are massive and doesn't fit these Red Wings. After this makeover they still look sleek. Really nice!

Really nice to see this much effort and attention to detail go into a lower-cost resole. Any time I’ve had half-sole job done, the sole has only been glued on and sometimes nailed at the waist of the shoe. Then you have loose stitches or holes in the top of the welt. Works, but looks like hell.
