I'm disagreeing towards the end that the Bible and reason don't go together. We are made in God's image with a rational brain. It takes a rational brain, guided by the Holy Spirit, to understand the Bible. God intentionally gave us both the rational brain and his written word together. If you're not being rational, then how do you know you're interpreting the Bible correctly? How do you not get led astray by people who quote cherry-picked proof texts to convince you that their out-of-context ideas are correct? The whole point in having science-related shows like this is to demonstrate that God's word does make rational sense. Scientists can be very irrational. They can believe theories as truth, and those can lock them into trying to fit data into a box that it doesn't fit into. Yes, science is supposed to be truth, and genuine science does question and seek truth. But that's not how it's applied by those who limit what the evidence is allowed to show us. Science isn't bad. Closed minded humans doing science can be a problem.

Well YES it’s history and an historical narrative. But it so much more. It also a work of Literature and I believe it’s context and structure bear this out. What gives the BIBLE meaning is NOT what scientists or theologians or archeologists say. Their study and input is vital but what matters most is its testimony to the Supreme creator, GOD. This particular book teaches about culture, geology, politics, and even critical thought. Secular humanists earnestly want to dismiss the book as near fable, even a contrived work. The comment from Stephen Boyd confuses me. On one hand, he refers to Genesis chapter one that the Hebrew word yohm is a 24 hour day. However in Genesis 2:4 it says: " This is a history of the heavens and the earth in the time they were created, in the day that Jehovah God made earth and heaven." This seems to be a synonymous parallelism that often appears in Psalms (who wrote one some of it). The second part of a line repeats the first part, but with different words. For example, in Psalm 120:2, "lying lips" is repeated in the second line as "deceitful tongues". The Hebrew word for "time" is zeman. I find Dr Wise to be such a blessing and gift to the church in the area of apologetics and a highly scientific analysis of the geologic record. Of course there is a great amount of disagreement even among Christians about these matters, however I have found his diligent use of both Scripture and the scientific method is very enlightening and a strong defense of the integrity of the Bible.
