He has the wrong type of buffer, it is a graining in the stanless and you must refinish in the same manner as sanding wood going with the grain. A special buffer is available that buffs in the direction of the grain. Clearly he is not trained in stainless, he is using an orbital sander.

The issue of arcing on 12v is the same as on 48v. Both can arc and in both cases can damage your main electrical system if not properly fused. Most likely though the line will be fused in which case i’t not that big a deal to just snip the line. 48v is not high voltage, it’s just more than 12v. 48v will not shock you unless you stick the wires in your mouth.

The best idea would be to run the thing into the nearest bog where some distant future anthropologist can find it and marvel at 21st century stupidity.

I unfortunately while cleaning my Cybertruck cleaned a couple spots with a 3M plastic scrub pad on one door panel. These spots are now too shiny and make the panel finish very uneven. Can I use this process to make the panel even again and back to its original finish?

I'm really curious to see behind the rear seats at the wall separating the interior from the vault. I've been wondering about maybe modifying it to at least have the glass come down to allow climate control for that bed space too. Would be dope to have the whole seat and wall fold down for full access to the vault from the inside.

So basically because the outer panels are so strong, all the damage during the collision is transferred to the vehicle shell underneath which is borderline unrepairable. You have yourself a disposable $100K truck.

I spent about 6 months investigating EVs vs. hybrid, vs. ICE. I have not YET bought an Ocean but considering it, "sort of". What I did buy is a 2020 BMW i3s REX. With the state of, or horrible state of, commercial charging stations the REX, my opinion, was the way to go. I can get 170 miles per charge, assuming no huge elevations at 75mph with the AC blasting. AND, zero range anxiety. Example: My wife and I took a trip Phoenix to LA. 2 charging stations between, both Electrify America. This was 3 years ago when Electrify America was 24 cents/kWh now it's 54 or 56 cent/kWh so an ICE car that gets 30mpg is more economical vs. electric. 3 years ago coming back was an obstacle. The first Electrify America, of course 2 of the 6 were down, the 4 were full with a 3 car wait. I did hack the i3 so you can turn on the REX, scooter engine that runs on 2.2 gallons of gas that runs a generator to maintain the high voltage state of charge for 80 miles, I hacked it so it can be turned on at any state of charge below 75%. So, rather than wait in line I pressed the REX. Got to the next charging set of stations and 4 car wait. I topped off with gas and kept going to reach home. So, I have the pleasures of a pure EV with a backup system just in case. In fact, on any longer trips that burn through the electric, with the prices at Electrify America being outrageous and their lack of maintenance I just run it at 30% EV charge and click on the REX. Going uphill at 75 mph with the AC blasting it will loose about 7-8% battery level as the REX can't keep up, down hill regen gets it all back plus some extra. So, you have to be smart about it, and I am. As for the Ocean, I'm considering the risk vs, how much I like the looks and performance vs. current prices. Just still unsure.

With the back quarter panel removed and the doggie window actuator exposed it should be possible to get the current needed for the actuator and run a switch to bypass the need for using the FAST tool to recalibrate and run them with a switch to power them.

If the battery is scratched, insurance will have it replaced. Pretty sure on that. That plus the collision repair will render it totaled.

I'm very glad to see that you guys have the expertise and capabilities for doing very complex repairs like these. You really have to give it to Tesla probably Rivian for really having these repairs with the proper equipment. Thank you John for what you are doing for the EV community which is a huge deal. It's simply amazing looking at the end products and I'm sure your customers are very well pleased with your work. I'd love to visit you guys when you come to the Northern Virginia Area.
