Well done. I can see the day when old CTs are renewed and updated much easier than a painted car. Customization is going to be wild with all bolt on panels.

Wow, that looks great. The course took the scratch off in a fraction of a second. The rest of the work was blending it.

Wow. The cost saving is crazy! Not to mention if/when there will be body shops specializing in CT or stainless steel cars - they won’t need a paint booth! They might just be mobile service… brings a whole new meaning to PDR (pointless dent repair 😂)

I love working with stainless steel. This will be a fun truck to work on.

Hey we just got a door in with a tiny scratch tried 3m gray pad but nothing…what products are you using on this? Thanks a bunch!

What grit are you using and what brand do you use?

There is a crease in the panel at the top right hand side.

Great video. Question…my CT was keyed with a box cutter (I think) a week ago. The scratch runs the entire length of one side of the truck and is quite deep , deep enough that I can catch a fingernail in it. I have attempted this method and it did absolutely nothing to remove the scratch. What method should I use to remove a deep scratch? Die grinder? Can you post a video that shows how we can remove deep scratch vandalism? I would be happy to share a video showing the damage if that would help you formulate a response. Thank you for this fantastic video!!

We'll try to remove a deep scratch and let you know what happens. As of right now, we're not too sure - but if you'd like to send videos of the damage, feel free to send them to mackenzie@evolve-auto.com. Thanks!

Could you please let us know the grit of those sanding pads?

Great video, thank you. Can you tell me what model 3M orbital polisher you were using?

Wondering what a fine ceramic sludge/suspension in Cerama Bryte(glass/ceramic cooktop cleaner) would do to the surface🤔. May be it could used as an one step scratch fix, when used with an orbital sander with fine sanding disc🤞❤️👍

Looks like it's working really well. What are the grits on those pads?

I can see residual damage at the site of the scratch. There’s a wrinkle at the top of the panel, it’s subtle but visible in the video and probably more obvious in person.

Could you send a sample of the door panel to a machine shop for a tensile test?

It’s 30X stainless steel. A proprietary steel. Also used to make Starship.

Thanks for teaching us how to burnish a SSteel panel, i wonder if a Cordless Random orbital sander would work ,all major tool makers sell them.

You'll have to do the whole truck to make it all even.

Just an FYI - 3 local Cybertrucks including mine- did not have those sanding marks. They have more of a flat almost glass bead finish……I’ve read the refinish manual by Tesla and may attempt your process….

Likely an early unit, those are the ones that tend to have the visibile sanding patterns.

I unfortunately while cleaning my Cybertruck cleaned a couple spots with a 3M plastic scrub pad on one door panel. These spots are now too shiny and make the panel finish very uneven. Can I use this process to make the panel even again and back to its original finish?

If i owned a Cybtrk I'd probably never buff it,i hardly ever wash my car, and its 24 years old, last week was first wash in 5 years, l do wash my Stainless Steel pots and pans after each use.😂

When my CT gets dirty enough i hit it with a powerwasher to remove debris, then spray with deionized water and dry it with a leaf blower. The only time I messed with barkeepers friend and windex was when I splashed oil all down one side. But once an even patina forms it seems like washing becomes hardly necessary. Washing is more or less just bug removal.

I'd love to see one of these with Mexican/western style engraving all over it.
@tompawlak34823 ай бұрын
He has the wrong type of buffer, it is a graining in the stanless and you must refinish in the same manner as sanding wood going with the grain. A special buffer is available that buffs in the direction of the grain. Clearly he is not trained in stainless, he is using an orbital sander.
@GLHS8373 ай бұрын
Tesla deliberately finishes these panels in non directional manner. So there is no graining to work with. He is following the Tesla recommended procedures.

Best way to handle scratches on the cyber truck - do not buy one …. OR …. If you do buy one, don’t scratch it.
