I’ve listened to this many times now, and it just blooms more and more. It is now officially my favorite album since Beach House’s Once Twice Melody. Coincidentally, Pitchfork slandered both with incorrect scores. Anyway, yeah, this is an opus! It surpassed my expectations, and it’s been my most anticipated album this year. I feel so nourished. Adventurous, trippy, fun, gorgeous, ugh! Glad you liked it!

this one is honestly one of my favorite albums this year! maybe "girl with no face" by allie x (also released this year) is an album you might enjoy. it's not at all like imaginal disk (which i think i actually prefer), but it's also a synth pop album with 80s influences. emphasis on pop though, it's a lot closer to "mainstream" pop than this one, but it was enjoyable in my opinion.

Love is everywhere is actually the same instrumental used in lil yachtys running out of time, as magdalena bay originally produced yachtys track, and here they use it on their own album. Also you have to see music vids and read lyrics on genius, whole story arc and a deep message underneath

great reaction and analysis! i loved this album, it feels both retro and futuristic in such a unique way, i love how all the different sounds mix together and how diverse it is. It reminded me of abba, mort garson, muse and even pink floyd in some moments with the prog rock vibes. Btw, they were in a prog band before magdalena bay! you should check their previous album mercurial world (it's less experimental and more pop than this one, but it's great too)

The first and last track is definitely mirroring each other in both tempo changes and lyrics as well. (Kinda like 360 -> 365 from Brat) Also bonus if you listening to the last song on their debut album, it's actually flow seamless into the first song of this album too. It's pretty dope!

Omg, I need to play both albums back-to-back. I am new to MagBay and have fallen in love with their entire body of work as I eagerly waited for ID to drop. This is their crowning achievement in my eyes. And it’s also so cool we have all the Mini Mixes, too. They really never miss!!! New fave duo along with Beach House.

Sorry but your take on Hounds of Love is kinda bad.. that album was a regular on many greatest albums of the 80s and all times list way before stranger things was ever even conceived as an idea If anything it should be higher, although her best album is The Dreaming which should have been on the list as well

I think some of these tracks are better with context like the last two. One being about her boyfriends deceased father and the other being pretty much a message to her ex that music is her way of coping and not a way to call him out.

"I think I need section 2." How? Why? How can you not get that song from just the bass, if you know the song. In this case, section 2 wouldn't wven help, since the bass follows the chord progression beautifully. Bro even says "easy peasy". Sure, mate.

I have seen Fame live and been in a production of Fame Jr., and I still thought it was Holding Out For A Hero. I have literally danced a choreographed routine to this song on stage numerous times, and I still listen to this song regularly. Smh
