If you can get past the clunking clanking rattling front end that they all have go for it.I ride to relax though, not worry about the forks leaving the bike or something which is what it sounds like might happen at any moment on every fjr I've ever ridden and I've owned a couple and riding plenty and they all made the same horrific front end noises from brand new gen 3 off the showroom floor to the oldest Gen 1 they all had the same front end noises and it's not the calipers or pads or head bearings or rotors because I literally removed the calipers, rotors, fender and everything else I could after installing new OEM bushings, fork seals, fork oil, tapered head bearings etc and it still made the same noises.I just can't get past all the racket the front end makes while the dealership and forum idiots try to convince me it's normal.Ive ridden every kind of motorcycle you can think of in the last 50 years and owned over 40 and the front end sounding like it's about to leave the bike with every imperfection in the pavement is not normal.the only time I've heard more noise from a motorcycle front end was a clapped out kx250 we used to jump all day every day and ride wheelies on when we were kids but it was noisy because it was pretty much destroyed, not brand new from the dealership.I don't care how great the bike is,if it rattles, smokes, ticks, knocks or makes any kind of noise that causes me to worry instead of relax while riding it I can't really use it.

Cuts both ways, leave them hard to put in and you will break them up, snapping off male tines and cracking the plastic covers as well, as they age. I use a tad of regular grease but just be sure they lock in well. Alot of it has to do with the condition of the Rubber O grommets (rubber rings) the nub goes into. Fresh ones are best. By the way, drive the speed limit, Matey! Working on old bikes is more akin to archaeology than standard mechanical work. @@herbiesgarage681 Closer to the cylinder so guess it control the fuel but the main problem is that the rpm sometime didn't really response much to my turning. Bike already 11 yrs old and I never change the original pilot & main jet before but I did open and clean the carb and jets every few months.

@ Have you ever checked the valve clearances because that will affect the way the bike runs as well. If you haven’t changed the jetting and it ran good before I would think you possibly have a different problem

@@herbiesgarage681I DIY everything on my bike since last year that include full overhaul and replace timing chain set so I do know how to set timing correctly and what valve clearance is for. I not saying my bike is having some major problem but just wondering if I should get the bike a pair of new jet because the original jets might get some hard dirt in the inner wall which is not possible to clean 100% by just using a guitar string and those dirt making the hole smaller if you get what I mean, I remember the carb did response better to my tuning some times ago but not recently, that's all. By the way most of my engine part is brand new (block + piston / valve + valve seal + spring / clutch set / magnet coil / timing chain set / tensioner etc etc and the only few components that I not yet replace are camshaft / rocker arms / crankshaft and carb. I wonder if the now less responsive carb is affected by those old components and I do re-set the valve clearance after replaced the timing chain set, I don't have the service manual and it's no where to be found online but I found the manual for another very similar model so I use it which is 0.04 - 0.07 for both IN & EX value, I set the clearance using the feeler gauge but to be honest not sure if I do it correctly or not.

I have an 06 I got in February. I have almost exactly the same mods so far. Givi 1 Helmut size back box I just happen ed to see on Craig's. T-rex crash bars. I have to agree with the turn signal indicators. On my Ruckus, I mounted indicator lights up inside my windshield. I see them FINE! The FJR doesn't have self canceling, but my 86 FJ600 does! I will mount amber lights on the inside of my windshield. Started to position the 1 inch ball mounts for camera attachments. Drink holder coming up! 2nd owner from 0 mile title original owner.

@@tonybucca5667 Wow, great find! Got to have the drink holder 😂 Yeah I’m sure people following behind me sometimes are yelling, shut off your turn signals. 😂 The FJR really is a great bike with a ton of positive features. Thanks for the comment!
